- Managing stables after horses have left: Horses exhibit a remarkable degree of cunning and independence. If you happen to open their stalls, they may leave on their own. Assuming you find new homes for the horses relatively soon after their arrival, active stall management during their stay may not be necessary. Preparing the stalls with water, уборка, and providing a bale of hay before introducing the horses should be sufficient until the next arrival of horses.
- Use of hay bales: One might initially dismiss the presence of hay bales in the stalls given the availability of feed troughs. Однако, these bales prove to be quite valuable. The feed trough itself occasionally malfunctions, preventing horses from eating from it. В отличие, the hay bales seem to serve as a more reliable and free food source. They can hold at least three or four horses and get smaller as the horses consume them. When the bale becomes unnoticeable, it’s time to replace it.
- Moving Hay Bales: It is common for horses to get stuck or disoriented in their stalls and remain near the trough without moving. A practical solution to alleviate this problem is to move the hay bale from its standard position to another corner of the stall. This simple act seems to reduce the occurrence of the disorder.
- Dealing with stuck horses: In cases where a horse is trapped in its stall and neglecting its basic needs, it may be helpful to gently tap the red styling bag that hangs in the upper right corner of the stall. This action centers the horse in its stall without opening the gate. A brief interaction with the styling bag should be enough to realign the horse.
- If All Else Fails..: If a horse continues to ignore his needs, consider opening his stall and allowing him to choose another empty stall (assuming all gates are left open). Изредка, horses may simply prefer a change of scenery and may even choose a different stall just to relieve themselves.
- Straw AOE: When maintaining stalls, it is advisable not to change the straw on the floor after each mucking. The straw tends to have an area effect, filling holes in a significant radius (though not covering the entire stall). Waiting until three or four holes accumulate and strategically placing the straw between them increases the likelihood of effectively covering the area. Horses typically need at least five holes in the straw before they become uncomfortable.
- Differentiate Coat Colors: The appearance of dirt on horses can lead to the misconception that certain horses have specific coat colors, such as dun or roan (darker feet, neck and head than the rest of the body). This is an illusion, однако, as grooming the horse will remove the dirt and reveal the true solid coat color. Beware of being fooled by the presence of dirt.
- Multi-step cleaning process: Achieving a thorough grooming for horses requires a multi-step process. Start by using a horse grooming station along with shampoo, sponge, blow dryer, horse brush and horse comb. After removing the halter, wash and scrub the horse thoroughly. Use the brush to cover most of the horse’s body and remove dirt, paying attention to the hooves. Use the comb to clean the mane and tail until there are no visible color changes. While this process achieves about 90% cleanliness, the remaining 10% remains a mystery.
- Exiting the barn backwards: When moving horses within the barn, they may occasionally become frightened or seem stuck, possibly due to obstacles in the building. To detect this behavior early, back out of the barn. This will allow you to observe if the horse stops moving. If they stop, approach them to encourage them to resume walking with you.
- Set up an intake station: For those concerned with efficiently caring for sick horses, consider setting up an intake station. This setup involves placing blood collection needles near the trailer parking area. When the horse is unloaded from the trailer, remove the line and draw a blood sample. Place the sample in the nearby container, and while waiting for the vet’s results, you can also photograph the horse. There is also plenty of room to store medications in your inventory or leave them nearby in their original packaging.
- Petting horses outside: A related idea is to pet the horses before confining them to their stalls. Interacting with the horses in this way gives them time to relieve themselves. If they urinate on the grass, it will dissipate, reducing the need for straw. Although some horses may defecate instead, the time and cost savings associated with this approach outweigh any potential drawbacks.
- Timing Trailer Clicks: When delivering a horse for adoption, you may notice that the horse tends to “gallop” after you if it falls behind. While this pace is not excessive, it is still faster than a leisurely walk. For a smoother process, avoid clicking the trailer when the horse is far behind you. Вместо, wait a few seconds for the horse to catch up, and then click the trailer to speed up the loading process.

- Dismounting a Horse: To ride a horse, you must first purchase a saddle and bridle. Replace the halter with the bridle, and then attach the saddle. Однако, once you have mounted the horse, you may notice that there is no tooltip to tell you how to dismount. Dismounting is accomplished by pressing the ‘E’ ключ.
- Four horse gaits: Horses have four different gaits when ridden: walking, trotting, cantering, and galloping. To change between these speeds, press the ‘Shift’ key to increase the speed, or hold the ‘S’ or ‘Backward’ key to decrease the speed. The horse’s current speed is displayed above its stamina bar in the top center of the screen, and this indicator even updates when the horse is jumping.
- Absence of Reverse: Horses do not have the ability to reverse. Pressing the reverse button will only slow them down, even if they have come to a complete stop. If you find yourself in a corner, you will need to fully maneuver the horse to change direction.
- Limited Jumping Ability: Horses can only jump when faced with actual jumping obstacles. By using the Horse DLC Furniture in the build menu, you can add such obstacles to your horse’s paddock.
- No auto-jumping feature: Вопреки ожиданиям, horses will not automatically jump when approaching a jumpable object. Attempting such a maneuver could result in an unfortunate accident. Вместо, press the spacebar when approaching a jumpable object to guide the horse over it. Note that horses must be at least trotting to perform a jump.
- Door interaction: You can open the paddock door without dismounting. Однако, it is unclear if this also applies to stable doors.
- Horseyard: While on horseback, head towards the radiant light pillar by the front gate to enter the “Horseyard”. This area serves as a park with three riding paths where you can enjoy your ride. It’s worth noting that your horse’s needs will be suspended while you’re in this location, making it an ideal place to work towards longer riding achievements. Кроме того, the first time you enter the Yard, you may be able to unlock the Bankruptcy Achievement, as your Money Counter won’t be available there.
