This guide will show you some of the best tips and tricks to help you get started in The Lamplighters League.
Introdução
Olá, amigos! I’m here to tell you a few things:
Primeiro, I had a blast playing Lamplighter’s League, a game made by the cool folks at Harebrained. I really dig their other games like Battletech and Shadowrun. And second, there aren’t any good strategy guides for Lamplighter’s League right now. Seriamente, I couldn’t find a single one.
Claro, there are some so-so summaries from places like Sports Illustrated and GQ, but they don’t cut it. If I want to learn about the economy, maybe Fortune is okay, but they’re just after those clicks. They’re not helping us noobs. The game developers did make some nice intro videos, but I think they’re a bit too basic.
Então, vamos mergulhar! I’m breaking this guide into different parts, each tackling an important part of the game. After reading some discussions in the forums, I hope to share some deep knowledge and tricks that have worked for me. My goal is to make your planning easier as you play the game.
I should also say that I haven’t finished the game yet. I’m taking my sweet time, so this guide won’t be complete. As I keep playing and finishing campaigns, I might add more info. But maybe I won’t update it either. I hope another Lamplighter’s fan is making a full strategy guide with all the nitty-gritty details. But as they say, “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush,” so you’ll have to make do with this for now. (Sim, I’m a bit old and have a family, so you’re lucky I’m doing this. De nada!
Hideout Screen
Let’s talk about the Hideout Screen, which is like your home base in the game.
Resources are the things you gather during missions or as rewards. Here’s what you can find:
- Suprimentos: This is like the money you use to buy stuff from Captain Nicky, the supplier. It’s what you spend at the store.
- Informações: You usually find at least one per mission, and sometimes more. You can get it from expeditions too. Intel is used for specific expedition missions that advance the plot or help you find new recruits.
- Healing Balms: These are used to heal agents who got really hurt in the last mission so you can use them again in the current mission.
- Aether: This is what you need to upgrade your Allies.
- Pontos de habilidade: These are used to upgrade your Agents.
- Tinta: You use this to upgrade your Undrawn Cards.
- King’s Aether(?): It’s used for more powerful Ally skilltree unlocks. These are pretty rare.
- Ser(?): This is used for your Agent’s more powerful skilltree unlocks. Also rare.
Agora, let me introduce you to a couple of characters in your Hideout:
Locke is the narrator, but up to where I’m at in the game (Semana 18), he doesn’t do much else.
Captain Nicky is your supplier, and you don’t need to go on a mission to recruit him. He sells stuff like grenades, healing kits, and even armor and weapon attachments.
Every agent starts with one consumable slot, one armor slot, one accessory slot, and one weapon mod slot. You can unlock two more consumable slots by upgrading your Allies, Mother Amina, and Danys Belfort. You need to do their recruiting missions, but once you have them, the unlock is pretty straightforward and not too costly. I totally recommend it.
Oh, and as far as I can tell, there’s no way to sell items back. I’m not sure why the developers made it that way. It’s a bit sad.
Nicky’s store looks something like this:
- Bandagens: Cura 40 HP. Custos 15.
- Flash Bomb: A grenade that applies Marked and Blinded. AOE 3. Custos 15.
- Smoke Bomb: A grenade that creates Smoke, making it harder to hit anyone inside. AOE 5. Custos 10.
- Fire Bomb: A grenade that creates Fire and applies Burning (25 damage over time). AOE 3. Custos 20.
- Armadura Leve: Armor that gives +5 armadura. Custos 100.
As you progress in the game and upgrade your Allies in the Hideout, Nicky’s store gets better. Here’s what I have in my store currently:
- Frag Grenade I: A grenade that deals 40 damage and shreds 10 armadura. AOE 3. Custos 30.
- Vitality Gear I: Armor that increases Max HP by 30 and max stress by 2. Custos 200.
- Thunder Bomb I: A grenade that causes Knock Down. AOE 3. Custos 25.
- Vitality Gear II: Armor that increases Max HP by 60 and max stress by 3. Custos 450.
- Armadura corporal: Armor that gives +10 armadura. Custos 250.
- Speed Suit: Armor that adds +1 velocidade (movimento). Custos 200.
- Frag Grenade II: A grenade that deals 55 damage and shreds 15 armadura. AOE 3. Custos 50.
- Thunder Bomb II: A grenade that deals 40 damage and causes Knock Down. AOE 3. Custos 50.
- Accuracy Talisman: A weapon mod that increases hit chance by 10%. Custos 150.
- Critical Talisman: A weapon mod that increases crit chance by 10%. Custos 100.
- Armor Shred Talisman: A weapon mod that adds +5 armor shred per attack. Custos 150.
- Stress Flask I: A grenade that inflicts 2 estresse. AOE 3. Custos 25.
- Stress Remedy I: A targeted item that heals 3 estresse. Custos 20.
- Hasten Flask I: A targeted item that gives +1 PA. Custos 38.
- Medical Kit I: A targeted item that heals 75 HP. Custos 30.
- Ammunition Talisman I: A weapon mod that adds +1 munição. Custos 125.
- Damage Talisman I: A weapon mod that increases damage by 10%. Custos 225.
- Accuracy Talisman II: A weapon mod that increases hit chance by 17%. Custos 250.
- Armor Shred Talisman II: A weapon mod that adds +10 armor shred. Custos 300.
- Stress Flask II: A grenade that inflicts 4 estresse. AOE 3. Custos 50.
- Stress Remedy II: A targeted item that heals 5 estresse. Custos 40.
I’ll update this list if I find more items. Hope this helps you get an idea of what to expect.
Aliados
Let’s talk about your allies, the folks who help you out in the game. To recruit an Ally, you need to find them and complete their rescue mission. This takes time, recursos, and increases threat levels, but don’t let that stop you – Allies are crucial. If you get the chance to recruit them, Vá em frente. Their upgrade trees make a big difference in your Agents’ poder. Here’s a quick rundown, and if you have to prioritize, consider Danys first, Amina second, and Mei last. The Undrawn Hand
Agora, let’s dive into the Undrawn Hand, an exciting addition to Lamplighter’s League that lets you customize your agents with unique abilities. Each agent starts with 3 slots, one unlocked. The second slot may unlock at some point, and the third is deep within Mei’s central upgrade tree. You earn one Undrawn Hand card at the end of every mission, but you can find extra cards by discovering “Mote of Fate” items on some maps.
These cards come in three flavors: comum, incomum, and rare, with abilities scaling based on their rarity. You can level up cards up to five times by drawing duplicate cards during missions or using ink. Ink is a resource that allows you to upgrade a card without duplicates. It gets more expensive with each tier:
1st tier – 32 Ink 2nd tier – 128 Ink 3rd tier – 512 Ink 4th tier – ? (not specified)
You can earn ink in several ways. Discarding cards at the end of a mission provides small gains, with higher rarities offering more ink. Replacing a card refunds ink based on the card’s level. The most efficient way to gain ink is by allowing an agent to get “stress broken” ou “mortal danger” and then taking them on the next mission. A stress-broken or injured agent receives a RED UNDRAWN HAND card that covers one of their current Undrawn cards, replacing it with a negative effect for 3 in-game weeks. If you can prevent the agent from getting stress broken or put in mortal danger, the RED CARD is removed, and the agent earns a substantial amount of ink.
While agents in Lamplighter’s League have unique abilities fitting their class, the Undrawn Hand lets you customize them. There are numerous cards and combinations to turn your agents into powerful characters, whether you want to give ranged attacks to Bruisers, melee abilities to Sneaks, or create AOE damage dealers. Below are some cards and their notes:
Purnima:
- The Sage (cru): Nível 3, +5% chance crítica. On scoring a crit, reduce cooldowns by 1. (Ideal for a crit-focused character.)
- The Great Wind (incomum): Nível 3, upon becoming “Inspirado,” +2 speed for 2 rodadas. Enquanto “Inspirado,” attacks gain a 15% chance to grant 1 PA. Máx. 3 AP per round. (Perfect for her as she becomes “Inspirado” when reloading.)
Eddie:
- The Leech (cru): Nível 2, attacks have a 35% chance to inflict Bleed. When attacking a bleeding enemy, ganho 5 HP. (Great for a character who deals a lot of damage.)
- The Strategist (incomum): Nível 3, after reloading, the agent’s next attacks gain +25% dano. (Fits well with Eddie’s playstyle.)
Ingrid:
- The Tyrant (comum): Nível 2, this agent has +2 max stress and when attacked, the attacker suffers 1 estresse. (A good match for her playstyle.)
- The Fallen (comum): Nível 2, ranged ability. Deals damage that ignores armor. Medium range. 1 turn cooldown. (Useful when you can’t reach your target.)
Lateef:
- The Rogue (comum): Nível 1, ranged ability. Ofertas 50% more damage against marked enemies. Medium range. 1 turn cooldown.
- O Abandonado (cru): Nível 1, this agent’s attacks have a 10% chance to inflict Dazed.
Ana:
- The Salamander (comum): Nível 1, casts a Burning hazard. AOE 2. Close range. 5 turn cooldown.
These Undrawn Hand cards allow you to tailor your agents to your preferred playstyle and strategy.
Agentes
In Lamplighter’s League, you begin with three agents: Ingrid, Eddie, and Lateef. Agents are categorized into three types, each with unique real-time abilities and combat roles.
Sneaks are your stealthy agents. They can enter stealth mode when not moving and have three charges of “Sucker Punch,” a real-time ability for taking out single targets out of combat. Sneaks excel at scouting and should be kept separate from the rest of the team to gather resources and explore the map. While Recon mode is available, note that there’s no in-game map. Only use Recon to get a general sense of your surroundings. Sneaks are crucial for determining the situation and deciding the direction of your attack. When Sneaks identify targets, keep your other agents at a safe distance to avoid premature combat situations. If the enemy is alerted, they will search extensively for you. If your other agents are nearby, you may find your team split up and unable to support each other.
Bruisers are your melee specialists. They can perform a real-time ability called “Slam,” which is a charging attack that can take out multiple units in a line, regardless of their HP. Use Slam against roving perimeter guards that typically travel in small groups. Be cautious about choosing a location that won’t attract attention, and be ready to retreat quietly if necessary.
Sabotadores are versatile mid-range agents. Their real-time ability is “Shock Mine,” which allows them to throw a trap mine that attracts nearby enemies and kills the first one to step on it. This is excellent for dealing with radar units that obstruct your Sneak’s infiltration. These units look like skinny snipers with glowing white eyes and emit white pulsing waves. Keep in mind that Saboteurs can discover Sneaks even in stealth, so eliminating these radar units is essential to initiate combat on your terms.
Note that elite units and scions are immune to takedown abilities, but not to destructibles, granadas, and consumables. Também, moving through pools of oil and water creates sound, so be cautious.
Your initial team consists of one agent of each type. I highly recommend having one of each agent type in every mission since they all have unique capabilities. Sneaks can access specific areas, Bruisers can break walls, and Saboteurs can open doors. Your starting agents are quite powerful, and you can complete the campaign with them. They have valuable signature abilities and incredible passive skills. Ingrid, por exemplo, is exceptionally strong.
If you recruit additional agents, you can expand your team. Por exemplo, Purnima is a Sneak who acts as a sniper, and Ana is a Saboteur who functions as a healer. Agents have several skills and three branching skill trees like Allies. To upgrade your agents, go to the HIDEOUT, select the AGENTS tab, choose an agent, and access the “Habilidades” menu on the upper left of the screen.
Mapa Mundial
This menu is mostly about checking your progress and picking missions. It shows a map of the world with mission dots on it. Here are some important things to know.
Primeiro, at the top of the screen, there are three meters for each House: Zorana Nicastro, Marteau, and Strum. These meters show how close each House is to taking over the world. Each House has its own character, like Zorana, who’s like a sea-loving, emo goddess with claws. Marteau is a genius billionaire who’s into undead stuff and machines. Strum is a 1930s version of Hitler. But don’t expect much character development.
These meters show the progress of each House. When they reach certain points, they become more powerful in missions. Às vezes, you’ll see the House leaders in missions on the world map, which is actually a good thing.
Why is it good? Bem, that brings me to my second point. Here’s a secret to help you extend your game and beat the timers: when you defeat the House leaders (scions), it sets their meters back by a lot. Também, focus on missions that create a lot of threat for the Houses. Cada semana, there will be three missions related to a House, and the threat meter above them shows how much threat that mission will add. There are low, médio, and high threat missions. Focusing on high threat missions can give you more time, and defeating the scions sets their meter back by 4-5 pontos.
If you run into trouble, the game will give you a mission to reset the threat meter back to the last checkpoint. This gives you some breathing room. Be smart about it. I’m playing on standard difficulty, and by week 18, Eu tenho 9/40 threat from Nicastro, 10/40 threat from Marteau, e 9/40 threat from Strum. It’s doable.
Terceiro, be careful with Hijack missions. These have rewards that vary depending on how far you want to push it. If you try to redirect the third shipment, be ready for a tough fight. Your team should be strong enough to handle it by now, but you’ll need everything you’ve got, like thunderbombs, firebombs, and your special abilities. Near the end, the AI sends in patrols every turn, which can include elite enemies. Save your special abilities for this part. Even if you’re surrounded, get your team to the escape area, and you’ll automatically win. Try to time your moves to activate the next shipment right after the last one finishes. Boa sorte.
Por último, make sure to save enough Intel for Expedition missions. They give you good rewards by just sending one Agent. Às vezes, you might even find new recruits!
Mission Exploration and Combat
I’ve got a few things to share here. Primeiro, the maps you play on are different each time. They’re made randomly, but sometimes they use similar patterns. Some maps are really crowded and hard to explore, while others are more straightforward and easy to navigate.
In these maps, you’ll run into enemy bases with different numbers of enemies. Some bases might have special elite units with unique powers. You might also find reinforcement pads with timers.
Here’s my advice: take your time to explore the map fully. Look for items, granadas, motes, and hidden areas filled with supplies. These things are crucial for equipping your agents with good gear.
Don’t rush through the maps. Use your sneak to scout the area, get your agents in position, and take out a few guards. Quando você estiver pronto, switch to turn-based mode.
Most maps also have something called “Second Wind.” It resets your Signature ability and refills all your out-of-combat ability charges. You might find up to three of these on a single map. Use them because any charges left unused at the end of the mission are wasted.
During battles, pay attention to crates of dynamite, oil barrels, water pools, and other things you can destroy. These can turn the tide of battle in your favor. Por exemplo, dynamite can knock down all units nearby, giving you time to focus on an elite or clear out weaker enemies. Shock grenades electrify everyone in water. Well-placed fire bombs can block paths and force enemies to take detours. And it’s a good idea for everyone to have at least one thunder bomb to create distance between your agents and approaching enemies.
Agora, I promised you a list of status effects. Aqui está, thanks to NekoNoUnchi.

Finalmente, a word on elite enemies and their abilities:
- Tentacle units have a ranged poison attack and an AoE ability that causes slow.
- The big guys with flamethrowers move toward whoever attacks them and explode when killed.

Conclusão
This is what I know so far. I’m sorry if I missed something or if you think my guide is too simple.
I hope you like Lamplighter’s League as much as I do. It has a lot of potential, and I believe the developers will fix the small issues that are preventing it from being truly great. Even so, I think they deserve their payment. I don’t often get to play such a rewarding turn-based strategy game. These kinds of games are rare these days.
Best wishes and good luck in your adventures.
