Jobs are an integral part of SS14, and bring with them all sorts of intricacies and challenges. Como tal, the first thing to do in order to start your most joyful experience on Wizard’s Den!
Job Suggestions
Whether you prefer action or solitude, Wizard’s Den has you covered! The more action oriented players might enjoy jobs such as Security, Head of Security, Capitão, etc.. These jobs focus on engagements and fights with enemy players, and enforcing the rules aboard the station. For those who would prefer to keep away from guns and bloodshed, one may prefer to opt in for Medical, Botanist, Janitor, Carga, or Engineering. These jobs often focus on gameplay elements that don’t rely on troublesome players causing havoc and destruction. Whatever you choose though, we can assure you that you’ll be killed five minutes into the round and no one will do a thing about it. Viva!
Jobs to Avoid
Not all jobs are created equal, and some are honestly just best avoided for your own safety. For one reason or another, these jobs are free kills, and their lives are worthless to all aboard the station!
- Clown
- Mime
- Assistant
- Bibliotecário
- Camada
- Padre
Surviving on the Station
Introdução
So you’ve made it past the arduous journey of creating your character, and choosing a job, and now you find yourself on the station. Ótimo, but how is one to survive in such a treacherous environment?
Survival Tips
- Keep away from other players
- Stay in view of others
- Avoid the vents
- Don’t follow anyone
Other players are extremely unpredictable and dangerous, keeping your distance is paramount to your survival! Although other pose a threat, people wishing to do you harm will be less likely to do it in broad daylight, so sticking in public and away from the vents is the best way to stay safe! Likewise following anyone, even if they appear friendly is a sure way to get yourself murdered and your body hidden! Of course none of this matters, because someone will inevitably murder you in front of everyone, not one person will care, and your murderer will get away scott free! It’s the Wizard’s Den Guarantee!
Dealing with Others
Introdução
Despite our sound advice, you’ve come face to face with another player that’s not being to friendly, whether that’s stealing your food, pushing you over, or attempting to murder you, we are here to help!
Accepting Defeat
Despite having rule against it, and murder not being justifiable in every situation, security and others will do nothing to help you! The only option is to accept defeat and move on with your life, let them steal your items, let them beat you to death, let them ruin every bit of your fun, because after all, that’s the Wizard’s Den’s way!
Dealing with Security
Introdução
Despite what we’ve told you, and all the advice we’ve given you, somehow, you’ve managed to end up in trouble with the best guards in the universe! You’ve got to get out of there somehow!
Realizing the Lack of Power
Despite your efforts to explain the situation, and how he was the one who was attacking you, Security decided to beat you half to death and drag you into a sell and strip you. Infelizmente, security will find some item in your inventory and use it as an excuse to keep you locked up. Se você tiver sorte, you’ll be out within ten minutes, however what’s far more likely is you will be forgotten about, or beaten to death before you even make it to the cell. Lembrar, security is there to help the station! Not you!
Dealing with Admins
Introdução
So despite the joyous and fun environment, you’ve managed do run into trouble with the perfectly divine staff of Wizard’s Den. How can you get through this terrible interaction?
Getting Admin Assistance
Admin encounters aren’t always an outside force, sometimes you need their help with another person who’s been rather rude and perhaps done some very mean things! The following are things you can expect from the staff at Wizard’s Den:
- Being ignored
- No staff online
- Being told it’s not punishable
- Being punished instead
- Admin Aggression
Às vezes, the admins get called on you by another, be it because you’re daring to have too much fun, or you’ve done something mildly inconvenient. The following are things that you can expect from the staff at Wizard Den:
- Being talked down to
- Being made fun of
- Selectively enforced rules
- Hypocrisy
- Belittling
- Insults
- Unprofessional behavior
Soluções
Infelizmente, the admins at the Wizard’s Den could never do any wrong, so there’s nothing you can do beyond accept your unjust punishment and try to enjoy the rest of your experience! Lembrar, if you think the Admins care, you’re wrong!
The Afterlife
Introdução
So you’ve died. Big deal, there are plenty of things to after you’ve died! It’s totally not an extremely boring and mid numbing experience!
Ghost Mode
After you’ve died, you become a ghost! You can do all sorts of things while you wait for someone to find your body that was left in the dark vents of the map! You can haunt people, viewing what they do, and nothing more! You can flicker lights to make your presence known on the ship with and extremely long cooldown! You can even teleport to anywhere on the map and do absolutely nothing!
Critter
You can also become a critter in the afterlife, anything from a mouse to a monkey! However everyone on the map will try to murder you on sight, and you’ll likely be a ghost again in sixty seconds or less!
Personal AI
You can become a personal AI, talk with your owner, play fun music, e nada mais! What an engaging and fun use of your time!
Ghost Drone
You can also become a Ghost Drone, a fun little drone that can fix things and take care of garbage, unless a person or a corpse is around, to which you’ll be able to do nothing! Inevitably though, someone will kill you for no reason, and you’ll be a ghost again.
Holoparasite
If you’re lucky enough, you can become a holoparasite, a tanky and powerful being that can do a lot of damage. You’re like a personal AI with a strong body. Unfortunately as you’ll most likely be given to a traitor, your host will inevitably get into combat, and with the high latency and janky combat, your host will die. You’ll be a ghost again, but now with an angry team mate blaming you in chat!
The Great Beyond
Introdução
So despite your efforts to have fun, relax, and chill, you’ve been beaten, killed, blamed, punished, yelled at, and ridiculed. All you wanted was to have some fun and create a character to enjoy the whimsical world of SS14, an experience you’d hoped would be just like SS13, em vez de, you were met with a community full of people out to get you, people who went out of their way to ruin the round for you and the afterlife after you had died. You tried to go to security, yet they were part of the problem, you go to the admins, only to find that they perpetuate this environment. Anger builds up, you no longer enjoy playing, as everyone seems to have a bone to pick with you, and everyone seems to want to ruin your playthrough. So maybe you get banned, maybe you just leave, maybe you stop playing SS14, but either way, you no longer enjoy your time in the Wizards Den. O que você faz?
Letting it All Go
The community is corrupt, rude, and plagued with favoritism and selective enforcement of the rules, você, and everyone else is powerless to change anything about it. So what can be done? These are my suggestions:
- Go back to SS13
- Wait for more servers to pop up
- Play other games
- Work towards self improvement
- Enjoy your other hobbies
- Make your voice heard
While we may not be able to change the cesspool that is the Wizards Den, we certainly can wait for alternatives to it to spring up. It might take a while, but while we wait we can go back to SS13, a game that has less asinine admins, and friendlier communities. We can also enjoy other games and hobbies, there’s no reason why SS14 should bind you, Barotrauma, is a similar game if you want an experience close to SS13 and SS14. We can also take our new free time to work towards self improvement, working out, cleaning around the house, or just working through mental troubles. The Wizard’s Den may be toxic and vile, but that doesn’t mean we have to be.
Conclusão
Thank you all so much for reading, I made this guide out of frustration with how the Wizard’s Den treats it’s players, and seeing similar sentiments among my friends. While I can’t change how things are done, nor can I stand it, I can make my voice heard, and hope others are inspired to take action. I started out having a blast, playing fun characters, and interacting with others. I even made a good friend in SS14! No entanto, my experience within the Wizard’s Den would quickly sour. I would get beat to death, or jailed for things that weren’t justifiable at all. I would contact admins to get assistance, belittled, insulted, and talked down to. I was ignored, told I was “griefing,” and had none of my requests dealt with properly. I grew resentful, and displeased with the community and administration as a whole. I would try to still enjoy my time, I would create characters that were less serious, and just meant to have a good time. Some rounds would go swell, they’d be fun and really enjoyable, but most were not. I’d often die five minutes into a round, and not ever have my body recovered, people would beat me to death in broad daylight for incredibly minor things, and no one would care. Geral, it was just immensely frustrating, and I really do hope that future servers are run better.
