The Witch is undoubtedly the most formidable class in the game, offering exceptional advantages such as an incredible economy, advantageous starting spells, excellent reconnaissance capabilities, potent upgrades, and impressive range. With all these attributes, the Witch is your best choice for consistently successful runs.
Amazing Economy
Completing a level without taking damage rewards you with a generous 6 ouro, a feat that may appear challenging initially. No entanto, the Witch possesses the skills to eliminate or evade enemies, avoid direct damage, and bypass levels if necessary. It’s arguably the easiest class to avoid taking damage with, given its diverse problem-solving abilities. Aside from the 6 gold bonus, you can also earn gold by defeating enemies, albeit in a more passive manner, as you typically want to conserve your energy. No entanto, if you plan to utilize the energy max refill at the end, you can accumulate a bit more wealth. Adicionalmente, the Witch has the tools to thoroughly scout entire maps, including revealing hidden tiles using Pyrokinesis.
Starts with Damage
The Witch begins her journey with Pyrokinesis, Banir, and Teleport. These spells are particularly advantageous, with her Power spells becoming progressively cheaper as she advances in the game. Pyrokinesis, em particular, is a potent scouting spell that gains increased range with upgrades, allowing you to cover a significant portion of the map. When combined with the Strength tonic or the Surprise perk (+1 damage to hidden enemies), Pyrokinesis becomes a formidable tool for effortlessly clearing rooms. It also synergizes well with the Desperate Hour perk and Meditation, making it versatile in various situations. Banish becomes more energy-efficient with upgrades, making it a valuable utility in higher difficulties. Teleporte, despite being inexpensive, offers great utility for spell alignment and rapid movement. While upgrading it allows diagonal movement, many players opt not to upgrade it due to the Witch’s other compelling upgrades.
Other Notable Power Spells
The Witch has access to several other power spells, including Lightning, Bola de fogo, Sanguessuga, Xingamento, and Armageddon. While each has its situational uses, some are more effective than others. Por exemplo, Lightning is often considered too expensive for its utility, while Fireball complements Pyrokinesis well for dispatching tougher enemies. Leech is valuable for trading energy for health, and Armageddon is intriguing.
Great Scouting
Unlike some other classes, the Witch excels at spending time outside of combat. Pyrokinesis, when sufficiently upgraded, allows for safe scouting of perilous tiles, while her damage and Banish abilities can eliminate threats. Teleport facilitates efficient map navigation, preventing you from getting trapped due to poor road planning. Although some Oracle spells are available, they are not commonly chosen for the Witch.
Powerful Upgrades
In addition to spell upgrades, the Witch boasts a variety of beneficial perks. Insight enables numbered roads, aiding in comprehensive map exploration. Desperate Power significantly reduces energy costs when at 1 HP, making the Witch formidable in critical situations. Saque, Perfeito, and Magic Hoard offer various benefits, with Magic Hoard providing a notable energy boost. School of Power upgrades reduce energy costs for power spells, Meditation further reduces energy costs on 0-tile terrain, and Surprise adds extra damage to hidden enemies, greatly enhancing the Witch’s offensive capabilities.
Dark Energy
The Witch’s critical ability allows her to replenish all energy at the cost of a 10-turn cooldown and reveals/summons additional monsters with each use. This ability is best employed after the king has been revealed to replenish energy between stages. In emergencies, it can even be used before locating the king, although this tactic imposes a time limit due to incoming new monsters.
General Playstyle
Out of combat, employ logic to explore as many tiles as possible, leaving only unidentifiable ones unexplored. Teleport can be used to bridge gaps efficiently due to its low cost. Avoid unnecessary risks to ensure you obtain the 6 gold bonus for completing a level without taking damage.
Use Pyrokinesis on unexplored tiles to reveal new areas for logical exploration. If it reveals enemies too tough to defeat, utilize Banish. At dead ends, prioritize visiting vendors. At the Smith, aim for the Surprise perk if possible, but be cautious of increasing reroll costs. The Gym is ideal for upgrading Pyrokinesis, energy-related perks, and other damage spells. At Chovey’s, stock up on useful consumable items whenever available, as they are crucial for facing the King on the final stage or escaping tricky situations. Purchasing energy and health upgrades at Chovey’s is less important, as they can be considered gold sinks. No entanto, on NG+5, where Pyrokinesis costs 6 energy and you start with 14, acquiring +2 energy from Chovey allows you to cast an additional Pyrokinesis on that difficulty.
On levels that feature a trumpeter, attempt to eliminate them quickly, using long-range Pyrokinesis, teleport banish, consumíveis, and other tactics. Levels become substantially easier when you’re not under a combat timer.
