Tutorial, Spoiler-free Tips and Full Solutions for X’BPGH: The Forbidden Path
Introdução
Want to figure out the solution yourself but can’t stop brainfarting? Can’t figure out how the game works or just want to copy my solution to each level? Well come on in, Você veio para o lugar certo!
If you just came for the solutions then scroll down to the bottom where I’ve included solutions in the form of screenshots. The rest of you curious flesh manipulators can stay up here for a lesson in walking the Forbidden Path.
Specimen A (Column I)
I strongly suggest you try this one by trial and error just to see which button does what. Don’t be afraid to mess up, you can start over at any time.
The solution to this puzzle won’t tell you anything that you couldn’t easily figure out for yourself.
UI Explanation:
O 12 grids in the top half of the screen show the path your flesh is going to take. Change the outcome by writing rules left to right in the alien double helix near the bottom of the screen. The large screen on the right displays what your final product should look like. The Minecraftesque crafting interface lets you duplicate and specialize cells.
If you mess up and want to reset, use the tiny H button under the intended result screen.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Fill in all the gaps with seed by dividing them in all needed directions. Specialize seed into skin. alternativamente, specialize first and then divide.
Specimen B (Column I)
Dica #1:
The order of your reactions matters a lot.
Dica #2:
Try changing around the order in which things happen.
Dica #3:
If you mess up and want to reset, use the tiny H button under the intended result screen.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start from anywhere in the 2nd column and create a vertical line of seed there. Divide outwards to both sides and specialize into mucosa, then from mucosa into muscle.
Specimen Γ (Column I)
Dica #1:
Try clicking around for new buttons to press. You might’ve missed something pressable.
Dica #2:
You can’t win this level by filling every single space with seed.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start on the 2nd space from the top and divide downwards. Specialize seed into cartilage and cartilage into bone. (Bone into superior bone)
Specimen Δ (Column II)
Dica #1:
Make sure your final product matches the intended result exactly.
Dica #2:
Specialize early so every skin cell is covered with hair.
Dica #3:
A new mechanic besides division has been made available.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start at the bottom and extend the seed among all cells above. Specialize into skin and use the fuse function to match the picture. Specialize all skin into hair.
Specimen E (Column II)
Dica #1:
De novo, the order of events is very important.
Dica #2:
Try using any new mechanics. Trial and error, baby.
Neighbor explanation:
The neighbor mechanic works as an IF function. Basicamente, if the specified cell’s neighbor (either left, certo, up or down) is what you specify, then the chosen action will take place. The IF function and the outcome occupy a single DNA slot.
Dica #3:
Metal is your neighbor and fat is your name.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Sorry for calling you fat. Fill the screen with seed (vermelho), fuse and turn into mucosa (rosa). If a mucosa cell has a neighboring metal block on its bottom, turn it into fat (beige). After that any mucosa cells can be turned into meat (roxo). I’m making up the names for these things as we go along.
Specimen Z (Column II)
Dica #1:
There’s a mechanic you probably haven’t used before.
Dica #2:
The IF statement is not the only conditional statement.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start with creating the bone first. Grow out your seed from where the end of the bone is. While there is ANY non-empty cell to the right of a seed, it should turn into bone. When the seed reaches the edge there will only be emptiness next to it so the while loop will stop. Before moving left, make sure there is a vertical strip of flesh that you can then expand to the left. We do this as to ignore the seed’s interaction with cells on the right side of it. Then convert everything into muscle.
Specimen H (Column III)
Dica #1:
Metal is your friend.
Dica #2:
Change the order of things.
Dica #3:
Once you have one cell of a certain kind, it’s easy to spread it.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start on the left or right of the metal island. Envelop the metal in seeds and grow upwards and downwards. Use a neighbor function to create an eye and use that eye to create a single bit of hair above and below it. Então, if a skin cell has hair next to it, turn it into hair as well.
Specimen Θ (Column III)
Dica #1:
Do everything in a logical order.
Dica #2:
Try using some underutilized mechanics.
Dica #3:
The lower and upper parts each require a different approach.
Dica #4:
Start from the event horizon.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Begin diagonally below the metal blocks, then grow your seed up and to the right. Once your seed reaches the edge, use the neighbor statement to grow down into the right corner. Divide left, fuse the top cells and specialize into meat.
Specimen I (Column III)
Dica #0:
This one looks like crab sticks.
Dica #1:
Make sure you know how to use all available mechanics in this game.
Dica #2:
Try a new mechanic you might not have used before.
Dica #3:
Write a solution to Specimen Z from start to finish then come back and try again.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Create a vertical strip of seeds on one side, then divide them out to the side. Use the DIE mechanic to kill your vertically connected strip of seeds (their neighbor is metal). You now have a bunch of unconnected seeds. Specialize them into mucous membrane and grow them out horizontally. Turn everything into muscle.
Specimen Κ (Column IV)
Dica #1:
It’s easier than it looks.
Dica #2:
If it looks impossible to you then you’re doing it wrong. I was stuck on this one for a while but it is actually straightforward.
Dica #3:
Use the neighbor function to look at cells that might’ve changed state.
Dica #4:
Write a solution to Specimen Θ from start to finish. Then come back and try again.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Start on the left side of the middle row. Repeat almost everything you did in Specimen Θ. The top right should fill easily and the bottom requires an IF statement. Expand your seed just like in Specimen Θ and specialize it into skin. At one point the eye’s location will be empty, the block above it will be seed and the one above that will be skin. Create an IF statement to divide your seed down and then make the metal’s neighbor into an eye.
Specimen Λ (Column IV)
Dica #1:
This one is pretty straightforward. Just do everything step by step and rule things out in the order of easiest to hardest.
Dica #2:
There are more neighbor statements than regular divisions. Try changing up the order in which things happen.
Written Solution (Spoilers!):
Divide seed to fill all spaces, turn it into mucous membrane and fuse the ones that aren’t connected. Any mucosa below or above metal gets turned into meat. Depois disso, any mucosa below and above the edge turns into fat. Meat cells are made if there is fat above and under mucosa. Finalmente, any meat above or below the mucous membrane signals it to turn into fat.

Solution Screenshots (Spoilers)
Here are all the levels in screenshot form. It’s okay to give up or just grind out the achievement. We’re all friends here.
My solutions aren’t the most efficient but they worked for me. Just copy my moves from the pictures and go on with your day.

Posfácio
Basicamente, this game is very cool.
I really like the sci-fi aesthetic.
This section is purely to divide the spoilerful solution screenshots from the (esperançosamente) spoilerfree comment section.
