This serves as a comprehensive overview of the different artillery units in the game mode Conquest. It’s worth noting that the majority, se não todos, of these insights can also be applied to the skirmish game mode.
Artillery Types
Please note that these terms and categorizations are not necessarily official in-game terminology or gun designations; they are simply my personal classifications based on their utility. To fully understand how each individual artillery piece functions, it’s recommended to experiment with them in the game editor to find what suits your preferences.
Artillery units can generally be categorized into three types of firing arcs: Direct fire, arc fire, and high arc fire. Adicionalmente, they are often classified by size (luz, medium/no-size listed, pesado). Smaller guns typically have faster firing rates and greater accuracy (unless they are of the direct fire type), but they come with smaller explosive power and limited range.
- Direct Fire: This firing type is commonly associated with Anti-Tank Guns, which excel at countering armored vehicles. No entanto, they can also be effective in open fields, against buildings, or when firing downhill. Examples include Anti-Tank Guns, the Recoilless Rifle, the Finnish two-man Anti-Tank Rifle, some AA Guns, and certain Field Guns.
- Arc Fire: This is the most prevalent firing arc for artillery units and is used by most of them. The arc’s specifics depend on the type of gun, mas geralmente, it requires a line of sight or placement far enough back from the target to shoot over obstacles. Artillery units with arc fire capabilities include Infantry Guns and some Field Guns (excellent for anti-infantry purposes and possibly dealing with lightly armored vehicles), Field Howitzers (somewhere between high arc fire and arc fire, suitable for long-distance targets), Rockets, and non-tracked versions of Artillery (an in-game classification that falls between howitzers and field guns).
- High Arc Fire: This category is primarily associated with mortars, which can fire over almost any obstacle but tend to be less accurate. Examples of high arc fire units include Mortars, Siege Mortars, the Ampulomet Molotov Launcher, and arguably Howitzers and tracked Heavy Artillery.
