A guide to understanding how the board refresh mechanic works and how to use it effectively
Understanding board refreshes
The board refresh mechanic is giving trouble to many players. It did to me too, until I finally understood how it works exactly.
Então primeiro, por board refresh, we mean that every time there are only a certain amount of bricks left on the board, every brick will respawn in its original place. Your upgraded bricks will also respawn in random locations on the board.
In every fight, you will see this on the right side of the screen close to the board:
There are three components that are important here and tell you all you need to know about board refreshes.
Tijolos: this tells you how many bricks are on the board currently out of a total. Atualmente, in this configuration, há 45 bricks on a fresh board and we have not destroyed any yet.
30 until reset: once you have destroyed 30 more bricks (this number updates in real-time), the board will automatically refresh.
You may have noticed I skipped the reset threshold. This is because it’s easier to explain it last.
Reset threshold: 45-30 = 15.
The board will refresh every time there are only 15 bricks left or whichever number your refresh threshold actually is.
It’s as easy as that! O mais alto your threshold is (like if you buy the upgrade in stores), o menos bricks you will need to destroy to get a refresh.
Therefore your refresh threshold is a fixed number and not at all dependent on the number of bricks on the board. This can make fights with more bricks harder because you will need to destroy a lot before your upgraded bricks respawn.
When you have an event that says +1 reset threshold, it means you will need to break 1 fewer brick to get a refresh.
Should you aim for a higher or lower threshold?
Geralmente, the game wants you to have a high reset threshold and I tend to agree. More refreshes are generally better as you only do damage when destroying bricks. The more bricks you can destroy, the more damage you do.
I’m still testing this out however and don’t have a complete answer yet. Em alguns casos, it seems a lower threshold is better so that you have a chance to snipe all your upgraded bricks.
No entanto, keep in mind that there are a muito of bricks on the board. In this seemingly simple configuration from zone 2:
There are still 86 bricks on the board! And most are reinforced, which means they take at least a few hits to break.
So upgrading your reset threshold will not penalize you until you probably reach 30-35 (which is a lot, it’s double the original value and its money you could spend on upgraded bricks or relics).
Lowering your threshold from 15 is not advised, from my experience.
