Running low on ammunition, suprimentos, marcas, and can’t afford to make any? Don’t want the legal or fatal repercussions of stealing from an Outpost? Here’s a financially and reputably acceptable method of acquiring stuff at an Outpost!
Poor and Stuck
Do you ever feel like being a Jovian Separatist? You want to blow up an outpost, but can’t afford that sweet, doce, C-4 block? Too afraid of those beefed-up security guards to engage in a firefight?
Or maybe, you’re just plain poor and low on resources. That secure steel cabinet and guard equipment are looking pretty spicy and you’re running low on ammo, marcas, lead, and titanium … the temptation is real.
Can’t buy any, and your quick nifty stealy fingers just can’t pick those NPC pockets. The cabinets don’t have anything other than clothes!
Those outpost guards are just buffed to be too strong, so you can’t even kill them with the 3 revolver rounds you have left, plus the reputation cost for murdering a station is just too much.
Mas é claro, you still enjoy violence. It’s just a part of you. The feeling of joy as you see a body crushed by the extreme pressures of water, a person disappearing into a fine mist of blood as a railgun shell passes through on its way into JFK’s brain.
Maybe it’s time for some ultra-violence.
Unid
It’s not a crime, if there aren’t any witnesses.
Então, how do we liberate these poor outpost people from the clutches of life? Bem, our goal here is to either:
- Liberate them from life by allowing them to embrace the warmth of fire.
- Liberate them from life by allowing them to embrace the pressure of the outside ocean.
The items you’ll precisar:
- The Thermal Alien Artifact. Preferably stored in an Artifact Transport Case so you don’t end up burning yourself or your ship.
A combination of the following two items: (whatever you have an abundance of)
- An Oxygen Tank – the preferred option, for their low cost and re-usability.
- A Welding Fuel Tank – the not-as preferred option, because you can’t refill a welding fuel tank. Not as much of an issue if you can spare the tanks, but this guide is for people who are REALLY starving for resources.
All tanks must have at LEAST 1% fill/durability – de outra forma, they don’t have anything to explode.
- E finalmente, a diving suit. Any variation works. Apenas … don’t keep your spare tanks in your hotbar. We’ll get to that later.
You should have a Diving Suit, certo? Bem, even if you don’t, just steal one off the station.
Here are some quick maths:
Maioria, if not all Outpost Walls have 200 saúde.
- Oxygen Tank – 10
- Welding Fuel Tank – 15
Based on the numbers above, você precisará de pelo menos 20 oxygen tanks to blow a hole in the wall, allowing water to rush in and create high pressure areas (which kills anything not in diving suit).
alternativamente, do any combination of oxygen tanks/welding tanks as long as you hit 200.
To actually detonate the tanks, we’ll use that Thermal Artifact to start the fire, which will blow the tanks.
The tanks all have an explosion radius of about 2.5 metros. So for reliability’s sake, just drop them right up against a wall. Do also keep in mind that tanks existing in the world (such as those in an oxygen tank shelf, oxygen generator, or even welding fuel tanks/oxygen tanks inside of cabinets) will also burn and cause explosions.
Items Recommended:
A PUC is recommended if you have one.
O -90% burn damage will allow you to run through fire without turning into charcoal, as well as the benefit of using ambient air while waiting for the Thermal Artifact to light, not wasting precious oxygen. You might also want to put some morphine in the PUC if you accidentally blow yourself up.
Configurar
Items to remover liberate from the Outpost:
Diving Suits:
Há 2 Diving Suits in each Outpost.
1 no Engineering Module (the area with the Reactor, Fabricante, Deconstructor, Oxygen Generator).
The second one is in the Crew Quarters (the area with the bunk beds and cabinets).
Steal both of them, and move them onto the ship. Don’t forget you can de-construct extra diving suits for Titanium-Aluminium Alloys.
Removing the diving suits is essential – if they aren’t removed, AI will not be afraid to go into the flooded areas to weld the walls shut, ruining all your efforts. If they don’t have suits, they will flounder around in the water, attempting to find their way to safety rather than to fix the wall.
Fire Extinguishers
There are too many fire extinguishers to steal – do your best to remove the ones that are easily removable, mas isso é totalmente opcional. 9/10 times the tanks will explode before the AI can get the extinguisher to the fire.
Even if they do extinguish the fire, the artifact will just light again – and the explosion damage/radius will not be decreased. The tanks explode when their durability has been burnt out, decreasing for every second they’re on fire.
Uh Oh! The AI won’t leave the area so I can steal the item.
Sim, we’ve all had that problem before. That’s where our boy Thermy (the thermal artifact) comes in. Solte, let it start a burn, pick it back up, the NPC should panic and run out, desperately looking for a fire extinguisher.
While they’re running out, slap that artifact back into your container and steal that diving suit. Don’t forget you can hold one suit in your hands while wearing one on your body.
Items to NOT have on your person:
DO NOT HAVE OXYGEN TANKS OR WELDING FUEL TANKS ON YOUR HOTBAR.
This INCLUDES, but is not limited to, Plasma Cutters and Welders with tanks attached to your hotbar.
Upon exposure to fire, they WILL explode, stunning you and possibly killing you. No entanto, por algum motivo, these tanks are safe from fire exposure if they are in a secondary inventory, por exemplo, a toolbelt.
Localização
Agora, we choose a location to set up the bomb. Things to keep in mind:
- Don’t do the far left or far right areas. If they’re too far off to the side, it takes too long/is too tedious to fill up the rest of the outpost from one direction.
- Don’t do it right by the submarine docking port. That’s kind of obvious.
- If you’re using the minimum amount of oxygen/welding tanks to do the detonation, don’t aim to be completely destroy ceiling walls with your explosion. 9/10 times the walls will only have a partial leak, not enough for a full-blown flood. Aim to destroy walls in almost direct contact with where the tanks are dropped.
For outpost variations:
- Mining Outposts: Don’t set up in any of the mining tunnels.
- Research Outposts: Setting up in the research module is fine. Just make sure the wall you’re going to blow will be exposed to water.
- Military Outpost: If you set your explosion up by the weapons display cabinet, the entire window also explodes, acting like a fragmentation grenade. Use isso a seu favor. On the outpost setup where the security module doesn’t feature a weapons display cabinet, simply set up the explosion by the secure steel cabinet. You’ll get the same effect without damaging or detonating anything on the inside.
Ideal Locations:
Find areas to breach that will expose multiple rooms to water pressure. Por exemplo, this t-junction, when blown, will expose both rooms and allow water to flood in.
Makes your life a lot easier.
Looting Time
Bem, time to start finding bodies to peel their precious weapons off of.
The Shopkeep/Quartermaster as well as a couple of other NPCs have revolvers on them.
Obviamente, the big loot is off of security guard equipment. If you’re on a military outpost, steal their keycard and use it to open the secure steel cabinets.
Or if you’re just a terrorist Jovian Democracy Supporter then it’s time to move on, leaving all those pesky Europan Coalition followers dead in your tracks.
Happy Looting!
