- Patch Title: First Official Playtest – Feedback Changes
- Patch Release Date: April 25, 2024
The developer of Psyko Playtest has released a new update for the game on April 25, 2024. Here are the new things that you should expect to see or change on this new update. This information was curated directly from the official announcement on Steam.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first playtest. I’ve gone ahead and fixed some of the more critical issues that have come up, notably:
- You can now reload with the grip button (instead of emptying your clip)
- Left-Handed mode (Left trigger fires, right trigger is throttle)
- Physics should be more stable (less spin-outs)
- Low-Visibility and Instant Death are now part of the level list. They actually weren’t supposed to be part of the first playtest. I had accidentally included them.
- Hitting oncoming traffic will result in a blackout, loss of a Medkit and reset.
- Scrape sparks from colliding with wall, traffic and other bikes.
- Speedometer replaced throttle/brake meter to make user inputs clearer. I want a tacometer as well but this will come later.
- Tutorial gate counts shortened in both instances.
- Stutter in tutorial (or the first time you see an enemy) that would often cause a spin-out and framerate hitch. The hitch itself hasn’t been fixed yet, however it should no longer have serious gameplay implications (physics).
- Joy-stick mode: I DO NOT LIKE THIS. I’ve included a joy-stick mode; it can be found under Options. My opinion is that it is more challenging to make feel comfortable than head movement. It can be made smoother but I’ll need more feedback on this. This wasn’t how I meant for the game to be played, and I don’t enjoy the feeling as much as leaning the body/head to steer.
Again, thank you all, including those who’ve been very candid in their feedback. I’m excited to make more stuff for you!
