These are just my own thoughts on basic runes that I think are useful, no matter which class you’re playing. If you want to unlock more options and finish all achievements, you’ll need to get all classes to level 70 and create each weapon tier for them. Unlocking runic power and runes

A good tip is, while you’re leveling up the basic tree, make sure to unlock each map and clear it on normal difficulty. Your goal is to start with the middle of the tree, where some rune options can be found (look for the green background icons directly in the middle path):

The very first skill you unlock in the prestige tree will also give you a special class feature for each class. This can change how each class plays and provide significant buffs, like boosting the strength of the Necromancer’s abominations.

Along with the green runes in the middle of each class’s skill tree, focus on unlocking nodes with a blue border. These nodes unlock bonuses that apply to ALL characters on your account, adding up to a significant power increase once you unlock every option like this. Here’s an example of those nodes:

Versatility runes

At the top of the rune screen, there’s a section called versatility.

These are all 0-cost runes that offer important advantages affecting your gameplay. Let’s check out some of the ones I find most useful:

Weapon Expert: This allows you to start with the 2 active skills of your currently equipped weapon. It’s super helpful because without it, you’ll begin each match with only the first active skill of your weapon, making it slower to defeat enemies at the start. If you’re aiming to complete all the achievements in the game, you’ll naturally unlock the full potential of this rune.

Skill affinity

Skill affinity is another versatile rune that doesn’t cost anything, and it comes with the following power:

It’s crucial to understand that this power only applies to the initial selection of an active power in a match. While it works only once, you can strategically use it to acquire a crucial power for your desired build if you have a specific focus in mind.

To unlock the full potential of this rune, you’ll need to attain a level of 30 or higher in each class. If you’re aiming for 100% completion of achievements, you’ll naturally unlock this rune as you progress in the game.

Skill mastery

Skill mastery, the final rune in the lineup of 0 cost versatility runes, comes with the following power:
