This guide will show you how to organize your teams effectively in Football Manager 2024.
Why is team structure important?
Team structure matters because it helps you manage your teams better. When you organize your Senior, Reserve, and Youth teams, it becomes easier to handle them. This not only simplifies player transfers but also optimizes training.
Esencjonalnie, you want the best players in your Senior Team, those who didn’t quite make it in the Reserve Team, and the young talents (UXs) in your Youth Team. This organization is crucial for the dynamics and training efficiency, ensuring the long-term success of your club. Placing each player where they belong is considered best practice.
When you start with a new club, a recommended first step is to transfer all players from your Reserve Team and Youth Team to the Senior Team. The previous manager might have made mistakes, and depending on your tactics, you might find that some of these players are a better fit than the current Senior Team members alone. Keep reading to understand how to manage each team and plan for the future accordingly.
Senior Team
Your main team is super important, and I’m sure you’re aware of that.
In your club, the top-notch players should be part of this squad—the ones you want participating in your competitions.
The best way to organize your Senior Team is by looking ahead. Aim for a team size of at least 44 gracze (lub przynajmniej 22 Lub 33 if you can’t reach 44 but have 33 Lub 22 registered for competitions).
Since football allows 11 players from each team on the field, it’s a good idea to multiply that by 4, making it 44.
This strategy ensures you not only have your starting lineup but also a substitute for every position. Plus, you’ll have backups in case of injuries and young players you want to train alongside the experienced ones. This makes it easier for them to develop to the standards you expect and become part of the team’s social groups.
Here’s an example: One of my backup players got a long injury, but luckily, I have two others ready to step in until he recovers.
For the last 11 youth players, it’s okay to loan them out, but make sure to attach the “Can Be Recalled” clause. This gives you the flexibility to bring them back if needed.
This setup provides depth for rotation in case your players get tired, reducing the risk of injuries.
Avoid putting anyone on this team up for transfer. Dlaczego? Because these are the players you’ve identified as important, and you don’t want to sell them. If you decide to sell a player, move them to the Reserve Team and bring in someone else to replace them.
Even if they get upset about being in the Reserve Team, it doesn’t matter since you want to part ways with them anyway. It might even encourage them to leave willingly. Just be sure that you’re certain about selling the player.
This approach maintains your team dynamics and ensures that training efforts are focused on the players you value for your club. And now, let me explain how I organize my spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc to plan the Senior Team.
Reserve Team
This is where you keep all the players who aren’t ready for the Senior Team or the Youth Team.
It’s like a simple team used for storage. You can also make money if you find good-paying fixtures or if the Reserve Team is in a league that gives rewards.
You can even fill this team with good players and loan them out to make a profit. If you don’t plan to loan them, selling is another option.
Think of the Reserve Team as your transfer list.
It’s also a good place for wonderkids you want to develop but won’t use in your tactic. Na przykład, a 19-year-old DL when you have a U18 Youth Team and a tactic that doesn’t use a DL.
If you want to do this, make sure you have staff who can handle it.
Youth Team
The Youth Team is almost as important as the Senior Team. It represents the future of your club.
Tutaj, you place wonderkids who didn’t make it to the top priority for the Senior Team, preferably those with 4-5 star potentials. Anyone else is better off in the Reserve Team and can be sold.
Ensure the players’ age fits the team’s criteria, like having only U18 players if that’s the team’s category.
If a youth player doesn’t have the potential for the Senior Team, move them to the Reserve Team and sell them for profit if you don’t want to develop them. Don’t let them take valuable training time from your actual wonderkids.
The staff for this team should match the quality of your Senior Team, with every member having a good “Working With Youngsters” attribute, co najmniej 15 if you’re in a premium league.
In lower leagues with poor facilities, this team can serve as your Reserve Team or transfer list. Jednakże, all players at that level are likely useful, at least for depth if nothing else. A mediocre backup is better than having no backup at all.
