The Driller might look a little silly with his big goggles, but his creepy grin can make your hairs stand up. He’s a bit like that quiet kid in class who liked dissecting frogs and mixing chemicals, only way scarier. He’s like a psycho when it comes to war rules and science.
He’s called the Driller because he uses his Reinforced Power Drills, Lub “Drill Hands” as I like to call them, to dig tunnels and make paths for his team on Hoxxes IV. These drills can level the ground for clear sight lines, connect refineries to pump stations, and even fight enemies by grinding them down. The only downside is they don’t make platforms for minerals on the ceiling.
In fights, he’s all about controlling the crowd. His weapons hurt enemies over time and slow them down, sometimes even freezing them. If you’re new to horde shooters, I’d say Driller is the best choice. He doesn’t need to aim as much, and he can clear out Grunts fast, which makes it easier with fewer bad guys on the screen.

Notatka: I won’t be talking about the Overclocks for the weapons in this guide.
The Driller, just like all the other classes, currently has three main weapons as of the time I’m writing this:
- CRSPR Flamethrower
This is the first weapon we’ll talk about, and it’s called the CRSPR Flamethrower. It’s the basic weapon for the Driller class, but it’s quite powerful. Zasadniczo, it shoots a stream of fire in a straight line for a good distance, but if there’s a wall in the way, it won’t work. The range is pretty decent for a video game flamethrower, which is great because it takes a bit of time for its damage to really kick in.
When the flames from the CRSPR hit an enemy, a little icon shows up next to their health bar. Once that icon fills up, it means the enemy is “on fire.” When they’re on fire, they start taking 6 points of damage every 0.3 Do 0.5 towary drugiej jakości, and they also heat up nearby enemies, making it easier to set them on fire too. Plus, enemies that are on fire take extra damage from fire sources, which helps you kill them faster. Lub, you can just let them burn for a while and save some ammo.
Teraz, let’s look at the special upgrades for the flamethrower. These aren’t just regular things like more ammo or longer range; they do some interesting stuff. There are three main types: sticky flames, causing fear, and making enemies explode.
Sticky Flames is all about control. Instead of just slowly hurting the enemies over time, you’re also making it hard for them to get close to you. When your flames hit a surface, they stick to it and burn for 2 towary drugiej jakości, hurting anything that goes through and slowing them down. As you get better upgrades, you can make this sticky effect last even longer.
Fear Factor is pretty simple. Sometimes when you shoot your flamethrower, nearby enemies might get scared and run away. This can be super useful for making certain enemies, like Praetorians, stop their attacks and show their weak spots. They won’t run too far, so you need to take advantage of this moment!
W końcu, when you have this perk equipped, enemies you kill with the flamethrower might explode instead of just falling down like usual. It’s like turning them into a free grenade that hurts anything around, even you, so be careful with that.
- The Cryo Cannon
Let’s talk about the Cryo Cannon. It’s like a freeze gun, and it’s actually the best main weapon for the Driller. It doesn’t do as much damage as the CRSPR, but it’s better in some ways.
When you shoot an enemy with this, it freezes them. When an enemy is frozen, they can’t move, they can’t attack, and they can’t use special powers. If they’re flying, they’ll fall down and shatter when frozen. I, they take three times the damage from your attacks, except for dreadnaughts, which take 2.5 times the damage.
Również, just like the CRSPR, it leaves a trail of ice on the ground. If enemies walk on it, they get cold and slow down.
Unlike the CRSPR, the Cryo Cannon doesn’t need to be reloaded. Ale, it does need time to recharge its freezing power. It has more ammo in its tank, which is useful because it doesn’t do as much damage as the CRSPR. You can make both the recharge time and the freezing effect better with upgrades. Plus, you can make frozen enemies shatter when they’re defeated.
- The Corrosive Sludge Pump
Teraz, let’s talk about the Corrosive Sludge Pump. This is like a weapon that shoots yucky stuff, and it’s a bit different. It’s super powerful, but it’s a bit tricky to use. It doesn’t have as much ammo as the other two weapons, tylko 121 strzały, and I’m not sure what’s in those tanks, but it’s probably not something you’d want to know about.
It does a lot of damage, but you have to aim carefully. It also has a special attack where you can charge it up and shoot a big pool of yucky stuff on the ground. This pool hurts enemies and makes them slow. But be careful because it uses more ammo.
When you upgrade this gun, you can make it better, like increasing the slow effect and the yucky damage. But most of the upgrades are like what you’d expect. Więc, this gun is kind of like chemical warfare, which might be a bit like breaking the rules in the DRG universe.

- Subata 120
Let’s talk about the Subata 120. It’s a semi-automatic gun with a magazine that holds 12 bullets. It shoots really fast and doesn’t jump around when you shoot it. It may seem basic, but it’s quite powerful. Shoot a Praetorian in the backside with a whole magazine, and you’ll see their health go down fast.
The upgrades for this gun are pretty simple, at least until you get to the fourth tier. Pierwszy, you choose between getting +3 more damage for each shot or a big +60% bonus for hitting the weak spots of enemies. Następnie, in the next three tiers, you get even more options. You can make it do fire, lód, or yucky damage, make it hurt flying Mactera more, break armor, stun enemies, or make your bullets go through one enemy and hit whatever’s behind them. Więc, it gets more interesting as you upgrade it.
W końcu, it’s one of my favorite backup guns, even if it might seem a bit plain.
- Experimental Plasma Charger (EPC)
Teraz, let’s talk about the Experimental Plasma Charger, or EPC. It’s like a semi-auto pistol, but it shoots super hot plasma instead of regular bullets. Unlike some guns, you don’t need to reload it. Zamiast, it has an ammo pool, and if you shoot it too fast, it can overheat. But it packs a punch, doing 20 damage with each shot. You can also charge it up to fire a big blast that goes 2 meters and does 60 szkoda.
When it comes to upgrades, it’s all about making it better at not overheating, making the charged blasts go farther, and causing more burning damage to the enemies.
- Colette Wave Cooker
Don’t be fooled by the name; this is basically a microwave that’s been turned into a gun. It works like the EPC, with an ammo pool and an overheating thing. But it’s not very strong, only doing 7 damage with each tick. It’s not great against enemies with armor, but it’s awesome for getting rid of the little ones and stopping exploders from going boom.
For upgrades, it’s similar to the Subata. The basic stuff is at the start of the upgrade tree, and then it gets more interesting in tiers 3 I 4. You can add bonus slowing power, get a different firing mode that has a wider beam but makes more heat, add yucky damage, a chance for enemies to blow up, or more damage for enemies that are already on fire or frozen. It might not be my top pick, but it’s fun to use every once in a while.
Granaty
- Impact Axe
The Impact Axe is a one-time-use throwing weapon that really smacks enemies hard, as long as they don’t have armor. If you miss your target and hit the ground, Nie martw się, you can pick it back up. But once it hits an enemy, it’s gone for good. It also stuns enemies if it doesn’t kill them in one hit. You start with a bunch of them, so it’s a good choice to keep Praetorians at a distance.
- High Explosive Grenade
The High Explosive Grenade is like the standard explosive you’ve seen in many shooter games. Hold the throw button to cook it a bit and try to time it right to make it go kaboom in the middle of a bunch of aliens for lots of kills.
- Neurotoxin Grenade
Teraz, we’re talking chemical stuff again. This grenade is like a smoke grenade, but the smoke is replaced with gas that’s toxic to aliens but safe for dwarves. Just make sure the Gunner doesn’t light up a cigar nearby because the gas is flammable. Combine this with the CRSPR flamethrower, and you’ve got a powerful combo.
- Springloaded Ripper
Remember those spinning tops called Beyblades? Dobrze, this is like them but more deadly. It’s basically three sawblades on a handle that go tearing through the ground, up walls, and across the ceiling before they eventually explode. They deal massive damage to anything they hit, including dwarves, so watch out! Ale tu jest haczyk – they can’t do anything against flying enemies because they can’t reach them. Oh, and be careful where you throw them because they won’t stop spinning until they’re done, and that takes a while.
Mobility Tool
I mentioned it before, but the Reinforced Power Drills are probably the easiest and most fun tools to use. Just hold down the trigger, and you’ll see walls melt away before your eyes. But be careful not to keep it running for too long, or they’ll overheat.
When you have these cool tools out, your HUD will change to show a bunch of horizontal lines with numbers like “0,” “45,” I “-45” beside them. Those numbers are degree angles, and they’re important. Widzisz, anything steeper than 45 degrees can’t be walked up and down easily. Więc, remember this when you’re creating ramps or tunnels for pipelines.
As for melee weapons, they’re not super great. They take a long time to defeat enemies, but you can upgrade them to cool down after each kill. The biggest problem, chociaż, is how they make you blind when you use them. They throw rocks and dust into your face, making it hard to see sudden gaps in the floor ahead of you. Więc, you might fall from great heights a few times while using them, but you’ll still love them anyway.
Utility Tool
If you’ve ever checked out the DRG subreddit, you probably know all about the Driller’s Utility tool.
To jest “Scout Removal Device,” also known as the Satchel Charge. This little beauty is a bundle of super explosive stuff connected to a remote detonator. You can use it to blow up terrain, get rid of enemy hordes, or just make things go boom. It’s great for taking out big enemies fast or quickly mining that chunk of gold. And when you use it, the game even shows you a big red bubble to let you know what’s in the explosion range and what’s not. Super handy!
Ale tu jest haczyk: you can only use one at a time, and you only carry 2 of them on a mission, unless you buy the upgrade that lets you bring 3. Once you throw one down, you have to either blow it up or pick it back up (which is locked behind an upgrade) before you can put down another one.
I hej, just a little reminder: Satchel Charges are meant for terrain and enemies, not for each other. Bezpieczeństwo przede wszystkim!
