Differences in the old and new version.
Differences
Hello there!
If you are thinking “Hmm, I liked the old Impression games version, what does this offer?”
The main changes are:
– Remade graphics with new artstyle
– Remade music (including the old songs with new recordings)
– UI is new and re-shuffled
– Includes drag and dropping, or copying existing buildings (No blueprinting)
– TOGGLEABLE NEW SYSTEMS!
- Global Pool or the old rules? (Aka. do you need a house next to the mine?)
- Population housing is dynamic or static (aging workforce or static 40% can work)
- Walkers road range is all the same or depends on job (Easier math, or as original)
These all can be toggled on and off depending on your wish, which makes it great.
Then of course, new release, works better on new windows, etc.
Oh and yes, it contains the Cleopatra expansion.
Personal opinion
It is overall an improvement on the original game in almost all mechanics. Some kinks, like water lifts or labour pools are ironed out, but are opt-out if wanted. It’s great!
However, I do feel that the graphics while nice, lose some mood overall by being too cartoony. The menu UI is also a step back in some places, more importantly the Overseers tab which just… looks very, very bland compared to the original.
If there are mechanical changes (like how gods are handled in the background), they are not mentioned explicitly and is only known later down the line.
That’s it!
