As a novice player, I’ve observed that each vehicle in the game has its own unique characteristics and techniques. Through extensive trial and error, I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of findings for each unlocked vehicle. This guide aims to provide insights into their handling and drifting mechanics. I welcome any suggestions for improvement in the comments section below since this is my first guide.
Defining Vehicle Traits
I’ve identified common traits shared among all vehicles and will use specific terms to describe their handling, particularly in relation to drifting.
“Straight” – The vehicle naturally straightens out during this action.
“Sharpen” – When combined with pushing the drift stick, the vehicle drifts more sharply.
“Aanval” – This step is required to execute certain actions, even if the car appears unaffected.
“On Press” – Refers to actions performed by pressing the associated trigger.
“On Release” – Refers to actions performed by releasing the associated trigger.
“Gas” – Trigger corresponds to the gas pedal.
“Rem” – Trigger corresponds to the brake pedal.
To illustrate this, let’s take the Super Coda as an example since its unconventional handling inspired the creation of this guide.
“Charge on Gas Release / Drift on Gas Press / Sharpen on Brake” – To initiate a drift, hold the drift stick in the desired direction. Release the gas pedal to charge the drift. The longer you hold the charge, the sharper the drift will be when you press the gas pedal again. If you feel the drift wasn’t sharp enough, you can further tighten the turn by applying the brake.
Going forward, you’ll notice that many vehicles in the game share the trait of “Straight on Brake Press.” Daarom, when exiting a drift, quickly tapping the brake will completely straighten the vehicle for these specific cars.
C Class Vehicles
Terra Dart
This basic vehicle doesn’t possess any notable tricks. It can only “Sharpen on Brake Press.” It serves as an excellent choice for beginners until they become familiar with drift stick mechanics. The vehicle provides immediate feedback during turns.
Roton Boba
Similar to the Terra Dart, this vehicle is extremely slippery to handle, almost like driving on ice. It can “Drift or Straighten on Gas Release” en “Sharpen Drift on Brake Press.”
Coda Gecko
If you started the game on the normal difficulty level and desire a straightforward car that isn’t a tutorial vehicle, the Coda Gecko is a suitable choice. Het “Sharpens its Drift on Gas Release and Brake Press.” Dus, if hard drifting isn’t enough, release the gas pedal. If it’s still not sufficient, hit the brake. If you can’t make a turn while relying solely on the brake, you should have decelerated beforehand. This is my favorite among the default Class C vehicles.
Venom Ind. Bullet
As a high-speed and uniquely controlled C-Class car, Het “Automatically Straightens on Drift-Stick Release.” It can also “Sharpen or Start a Drift on Brake Press.” Daarom, tapping the brake initiates the drift, and holding it during the drift tightens the turn. Releasing the gas pedal is not necessary.
HPE Katana
This unorthodox vehicle is one of my favorite Class C cars. Its handling differs from the rest of the class, but it offers some of the tightest turning capabilities. Het “Charges Drift on Gas Release / Sharpen it on a charged Gas Press / and can Instantly Straighten on Brake.”
Venom Ind. Ventus
Speaking of sharp handling, the Ventus takes the lead. This vehicle “Drifts on Brake Press / Tightens on Gas Release.” Helaas, braking, even slightly, is necessary to execute sharp turns. If you have a sharp turn approaching, don’t worry about reducing your speed; simply slam the drift stick, apply the brake firmly, release the gas pedal, and witness the car instantly execute a hairpin turn. You also straighten upon releasing the brake, so there’s no need to worry about overcommitting.
B Class Vehicles
I have now unlocked all the Class B vehicles, with the Coda Gecko RX being the most time-consuming to obtain. Let’s delve into each of them.
HPE Dragon
If you start story mode on the hard difficulty, this will be your vehicle. Het “Drifts on Gas Release / Straightens on Brake.” It serves as the entry-level B class vehicle, emphasizing the importance of planning and preparing for turns in advance. The extent of drifting depends on your speed, so braking before a sharp turn is advisable. Since the vehicle’s drift recovery is naturally poor, be sure to quickly tap the brake to regain stability and straighten out after a tight turn.
HPE Katana XT
This is an upgraded version of the C-Class HPE Katana. Het “Straightens and charges on brake press / drifts on brake release.” To charge a drift, you need to be driving relatively straight and decelerating. Echter, the moment you release the brake, the vehicle swiftly enters a full turn. You also straighten upon releasing the drift stick, so there’s no need to brake again for straightening. It boasts high speed and acceleration.
Vlox Jet Z 880
There isn’t much to say about this vehicle other than it “Drifts and sharpens on brake press.” It has a slow recovery when it comes to straightening out.
Roton 7D
This is the first exposure to “one foot drive” voertuigen. The Roton 7D can only “Drift on Brake Press & Gas Release.” Met andere woorden, there is no advantage or reason to simultaneously apply both the gas and brake pedals for this vehicle. You either give it gas or brake, but never both. Some might consider it a downgraded version of the A-Class “Roton 7D Super.”
Coda Gecko RX
This vehicle falls under the category of “one foot drive” ook. Het “Drifts on Brake Press & Gas Release.” Echter, Het “Straightens on Gas Press & Drift Release.” What makes this vehicle unique is its ability to enhance performance off-road. It excels in muddy, sandy, snowy, and off-road terrains, where drifting too wide typically penalizes drivers. The RX not only tackles those challenges but also benefits from them, as achieving ace times often requires venturing onto full off-road shortcuts designed specifically for this vehicle.
HPE Jester
This sensitive vehicle requires a full commitment to the drift stick, and the only way to exit a drift is to “Straighten On Brake Press.” Once you grasp the strategy of tapping the brake to quickly regain control, it becomes quite easy to drive. Just remember to handle the drift stick gently since it is highly responsive.
A Class Vehicles
I must admit that I haven’t unlocked everything in the A-Class yet, as I still have some way to go. Nonetheless, I’ve managed to discern some of the mechanics involved.
Roton 7D Super
This is an upgraded version of the B-Class Roton 7D. It still follows the “one-foot drive” style, but its cornering ability during a full drift is astonishing, enabling hairpin turns.
HPE Dragon GTX
This is a souped-up version of the B-Class HPE Dragon.
Roton Boba UHT
This is an enhanced version of the Roton Boba, with an even more sensitive drift stick. Het “Straightens on Full Release,” meaning you need to release the gas, brake, drift, and possibly even the steering for a moment to straighten out.
Coda Chrono
Naar mijn mening, this is one of the sleekest-looking vehicles in the game. Het “Charges drift on Gas Release / Executes drift on Gas Press / Straightens on Brake Press.” It’s a straightforward car with no further hidden gimmicks that I’ve discovered. It’s simply enjoyable to drive!
Coda Superino
This vehicle is often regarded as a meme-machine. As hinted in the preview, its mechanics involve “Charging drift on gas release / Starting drift on gas press / Sharpening on brake press / Straightening on full release.” Aanvullend, it boasts one of the highest top speeds in the game but has the slowest acceleration. To achieve good times, you need to drift as smoothly as possible to minimize deceleration and fully exploit its high-speed capabilities. Best of luck mastering its unique trick; it’s still my personal favorite to drive once you grasp its mechanics. With a powerful drift charge, a simple gas press can result in a full 360-degree spin, allowing you to continue without losing momentum.
