This guide provides a full 100% walkthrough: three hearts on all villages, all achievements and – naturally – reaching the end of the game. It’s divided into five sections: one for each map, as well as a list of all achievements and how to get them.
Invoering
Doki Doki Ragnarok is a visual novel where you, a fearsome viking, date villages. Ja… Pillaging like dating. It sounds weird and it honestly is! With this guide, you can get full successes on every encounter, and get all the achievements in the game.
The game consists of four world maps: England, Frankrijk, Sweden, and Iceland. You proceed through the maps of each country, “dating” the villages you encounter. Depending on how well it goes, you can have different outcomes:
- No hearts —-> Fail at dating the village —-> you do not proceed in the game
- One heart —-> Succeed at dating the village —-> you proceed in the game
- Two hearts —-> Great success at dating the village —-> you proceed in the game
- Three hearts —-> Perfect result for dating the village —-> you proceed in the game, with best possible result for this village
There are some encounters with other characters, te, but they do not have heart ratings. These encounters are for the story only. Nonetheless, it’s possible to get achievements in some of them.
This guide will list the choices for perfect results, as well as all achievements you can get along the way!
England
England is where the game begins! You proceed through a number of encounters until you find Londinium – de “boss fight” of England. By conquering England, you unlock France and Sweden on the world map (you can continue with whichever country you like).
Hier, I’ll show you each individual encounter, and give a general strategy for each. I’ll also list all achievements you can get in that respective village (or other encounter).
Intro VillageThe very first encounter in the game! Hier, you meet the tutorial village, with some considerable guidance by Odin. You can’t actually lose this one, since – if you’re doing too badly – the game will offer the “Miraculous Comeback” option at the very end. Choose that one to win in every case, although it won’t be a perfect victory.
For the perfect result of three hearts, choose the following options:
- Hallo, village. Around here often?
- Raid
- (roar-barf)
- Attack England
Posh VillageAn arrogant village with strange opinions about barbaric vikings. To get three hearts, choose the following options:
- (fart)
- Raid
- (unleash war cry at reasonable volume)
- Attack England
EnglishwomanThis is the first non-village encounter in the game. You’re not getting any hearts here; once you reach the end of this event, you’ll automatically pass with one heart. So there is no way to get three hearts – one heart is already the maximum.
Simple VillageThe Simple Village is tricky: you basically have to defend your viking way of living. There’s several ways of doing that – the route I describe here is not the only one -, but this is the only 3-heart route I know of.
- Let’s praise Odin.
- Raid
- You dissing my bro Odin?
- Praise Odin
CorgiThe Corgi is, opnieuw, a non-village encounter. You cannot fail this, you will always get one heart!
GeitThe goat is a non-village encounter, and you will always receive one heart.
RivalsonRivalson is a recurring character you will find several times along your journey! Maar, alas, he’s not a village, so the hearts you can get here are limited. You will always finish with one heart, and you cannot lose this one.
LondiniumThis is the final “baas” of England, so to speak. Win this one and two additional world maps will be available to you! As a boss encounter, this also goes on for much longer than normal. You can build up your actions over several turns, and then use certain commands like Raid for maximum effect.
This route will get you to the desired three hearts:
- I’d like to plunder your village.
- Drink Mead
- I’m shy.
- Raid
- Sorry, I was distracted.
- Attack England
- I want to be more.
- Raid
- Can’t it be simple?
- Raid
Frankrijk
France is the world map available after winning England. It’s unlocked after conquering Londinium, together with Sweden. So it’s up to you whether you pursue this one, or go to Sweden instead.
Nogmaals, you can proceed through France until you find the “boss village” of this map, Normandy. To unlock the final map of the game, Iceland, you have to conquer both Normandy and the boss of Sweden, Birca.
Charming VillageThe first village of France! You need to show this village that you know about manners by invading England (en, blijkbaar, learning manners from them).
- Uhm, nice to meet you. Mind if I, uh, raid around a bit?
- Attack England
- What’re your hobbies, oh picturesque village?
- … Ja?
- Praise Odin
RivalsonRivalson is back! This encounter can be important for the overarching Rivalson plot line, but as for the hearts, you will always get one.
GeitIt’s another goat! As a non-village encounter, this one will always give one heart, te.
Beginner VillageThe Beginner Village features an unusual twist: you’re trying to win the village’s affection at the same time as Rivalson! Winning means taking Rivalson out of the game. The following route will get you the best result:
- Maybe we could… both pillage… at once???
- Attack England
- (shake a box of dog biscuits)
- Praise Odin
- (offer bellyrubs)
- Attack England
- Look. Look at my Corgi. It’s adorable.
- Attack England
Englishman in DisguiseNot a village, so it’s always one heart for you here.
RavensAnother non-village encounter: always one heart.
NormandyDe “baas” of France! This one is unusual in that – even if you do perfectly well – Normandy just isn’t ready for pillaging. You still succeed with a well-done date.
- Attack England
- Zeker, if I can bring my best pal Odin along!
- Mudwrestling
- Attack England
- Romantic candlelight dinner
- Drink Mead
- Boardgames
- Praise Odin
- I had a fantastic day.
- Praise Odin
Sweden
Sweden – the other map unlocked by winning Londinium’s heart in England. It’s up to you whether you finish France or Sweden first. To unlock the final map, Iceland, you need to conquer both Normandy in France and Birca in Sweden.
Fellow VikingYou help your fellow viking Olaf in winning the heart of a village. Technically, this is a non-village encounter, but it counts as a “real village” anyway, so you can get up to three hearts.
- Yo, Olaf, SLAYER OF TARTS!
- Drink Mead
- (startle him to stop the hiccup)
- Raid
Trendy VikingAnother non-village that always gives you one heart.
Odin (?)It’s your trusted advisor Odin, but something’s off about him… Surely that doesn’t mean anything?
In elk geval, this is a non-village encounter, so the hearts you can get are always one.
Fake VillageThis impressive, golden village is incredibly arrogant. There is a trick to all of this, and you will figure it out on the 3-heart route described below…
- May I AXE you a question?
- Raid
- …why do none of these houses have doors?
- Raid
- (frown at windows that look painted on)
- Raid
- Why did you pretend to be a rich village?
- Raid
GeitThe next goat! Opnieuw, only one heart is possible.
RivalsonRivalson appears again, and with him, the quest line continues… You can only get one heart here, as usual.
BircaThe last encounter of Sweden. Hiermee, you will win the entire map, and possibly unlock Iceland if you have already conquered Normandy in France.
For the perfect three-heart result, do the following:
- That is the most metal thing I have ever heard.
- Ready for Raid
- A real viking would NEVER be seen without their mead!
- Ready for Mead Drinking
- You’re trying way too hard.
- Nee, what is it that you want in your HEART?
- It’s okay, we’re all on our own personal quests.
- Ready for Attacking England
- You’re truly learning!
- Drink Mead
Iceland
It’s the final section of the game! This map is unlocked by conquering both Normandy in France, and Birca in Sweden. You will find a bunch of revelations about Ragnarok in this, as well as the very last encounter of the game: Valhalla itself!
Mystical GateThe very first encounter in Iceland features heavy resistance by Snuffles, the village’s pet dragon. You need to come up with a way to get him out of your hair. Here’s the perfect 3-heart strategy:
- Dus, uh, what does Snuffles like?
- Drink Mead
- Wat dan ook, I have a DRAGON FRIEND!!!
- Drink Mead
RivalsonThe final Rivalson encounter! The quest line continues here. While you will always get one heart only, this encounter is critical for the Rivalson questline, so pay close attention to what you say to him.
Daring VikingA cool viking grandma you can meet in the freezing cold. You will always get one heart from this non-village encounter.
Odin (?)Another mysterious meeting with Odin – or someone who seems to be Odin (guess who that is…). Zoals gewoonlijk, there is only one heart to get.
Goat VillageThis village tests your knowledge about all the goats you encountered before! Here’s how to get three hearts.
- It must be from France!
- I’d bet my axe this one is the Swedish goat!
- There’s no mistaking this. The French goat!
- Raid
Ice GiantIn this encounter, you will learn a lot about the so-called prophecy that Odin made. This is not a village, so as usual, you can get only one heart.
ValhallaThe finale of Doki Doki Ragnarok! There are many ways to succeed here: you can choose different allies to stand by your side, and you can choose a different outcome entirely based on your progress in the Rivalson questline. I’ll detail the 3-hearts route here.
- Are… are you hung-over?
- (Praise Odin)
- Praise Odin
- Attack England
- Raid
- I choose… Olaf!
- I choose… the daring grandma viking!
- You can do it!
- The prophecy is nonsense!
- I wish we had more time together, Valhalla.
- I WILL DATE VALHALLA!
Prestaties
There are various achievements you can get throughout the game by reaching certain unusual situations, or achieving certain results. I’ve listed all of them here!
