This guide isn’t a joke (Unlike the only other movement guide in this forum). There is a trick to some of the movement mechanics in this game. This guide will cover the basics, as well as some of those tricks.
Basisprincipes
If you are new to the game, try opening the first world option (Labeled “New Beginning”) for tutorial based learning. After your spawn rocket lands, your screen should look like the picture on the left. The game will attempt to teach you the W,A,S, and D movement mechanics with the pop-up that displays those movement keys. They will light up, in the pop up, as you press them (Note the picture, on the right, where the W key is pressed to jump).
alternatief, the arrow keys on your keyboard will function identically to the W,A,S, & D keys. The space-bar also functions as an alternative W key.
After walking off the initial platform or falling through it, by pressing S or the down arrow, you’ll grab your first Jet-pack by pressing interact (E). A pop-up will appear, once your character stands where the Jet-pack is/was, and will direct you to press the M2 button (Right Mouse Click) to activate the Jet-pack. Activating your Jet-pack will propel your character directly upwards. You can use the Left and Right movement controls to change the flight angle. Using your Jet-pack will consume your fuel (The bright blue bar at the top of your screen) which you’ll die without.
Jet-pack Launch Trick
The M2 key is used to trigger your Jet-pack. Pressing it will lift your character from the ground, and consume the necessary fuel to do so.
Echter, you can aid your launch to save fuel when reaching higher places. Just jump and then press and hold M2 before your jump reaches its climax. You’ll notice that the momentum from your jump is then carried into your flight!
Slipping
Your character will slip and slide A LOT in this game. They slide, ever so slightly, whenever you release a horizontal movement key. They will slide whenever you shoot any heavy-recoil gun (This will also push you around in the air if you are flying or falling). They will also slide when you land on any block with enough sideways momentum, or if you stand on or near any angled block face or ledge.
You have been warned. This is my least favorite game mechanic, and you will see why.
Faster Horizontal Movement
If you have come to this section looking for the trick to faster horizontal movement, then continue to be upset because I have not found it myself. If you know the trick, please message me so I can put it here and credit you.
As far as I know, horizontal movement is locked from the start of the game, and cannot be increased.
