I just completed my initial adventure in Journeyman difficulty in For the King 2. When I began playing the game, I couldn’t locate any helpful written instructions specifically for For The King II, apart from the existing guides for For The King 1. 그래서, I decided to take this chance to make my very first guide to assist the community. For those familiar with For The King 1, many of the mechanics carry over. As people have mentioned, Ironoak doesn’t need to change a winning formula. 그럼에도 불구하고, I aimed to create a general reminder for experienced players and a simple guide for newcomers. Although much of this may seem like common sense, I still believe it’s valuable to document.
I’ve structured this guide around three main subjects, roughly in order of importance: Gold Management, Movement Economy, 그리고 The Power of Shock.
Gold Management
Simply put, being careful with your gold makes your journey less painful. It’s usually wiser to save gold for lasting upgrades, like buying every affordable candy. Getting that +1 physical damage for your hunter within the first 10 turns or through loadouts could be the difference between a character surviving or being wiped out in a mission’s final encounters. Apart from candies, only invest in items that boost primary stats and those enhancing a character’s main defensive stat, like an evasion item with awareness for added evasion on your hunter. By optimizing armor and resistance, you can negate most damage types by the end of a campaign mission (예를 들어, stacking armor gear and salty jawbreakers on your blacksmith). Evasion becomes potent if min-maxed, making it optimal to focus on one or two characters for evasion. Don’t underestimate a character’s core stat, determining success for their weapon’s rolls. Hitting targets is often better than extra +attack or +magic damage since focus is limited.
마지막으로, I’ve found it beneficial to assign one character to gold multiplication duty, a strategy that worked well in both For The King 1 and For The King II. 이상적으로는, give this role to the bard, ~처럼 +% gold affixes are usually linked to +talent gear. 하지만, since bards aren’t yet in For The King II, the next best options are a scholar or pathfinder, as they have the highest default talent stats. The pathfinder’s scouting trait is valuable, accelerating your progression by quickly finding Points of Interest (POIs). 현재, there doesn’t seem to be any item in the game providing the pathfinder trait. Having a dedicated +talent character offers more gearing flexibility and a higher chance of passing talent tests.

Movement Economy
Moving faster makes the game easier, a rule that applied in For The King 1 and still holds true in For The King II. The compass you acquired with +1 movement is crucial. Having more movement options provides flexibility and speeds up your progress. The compass, offering +1 움직임, can be swapped between characters during turns. 그래서, if you’re willing to manage the trading before each character’s turn, one compass in a land or regular boat means +1 movement for the whole party. This also applies to health regeneration gear; 예를 들어, a pair of gloves providing +1 health per turn can benefit the entire party if you’re patient enough to trade them between characters.
Boats play a significant role. Both land boats and boat-boats should be used to the fullest, especially their “pick up party” functions. The pick-up function has a powerful range, making it somewhat overpowered, but as long as it has a four-tile radius, make sure to take advantage of it.
추가적으로, since focus can be spent on movement, use any extra focus at the end of a turn wisely. Scholars with a potential refocus or access to a nearby monument with a full focus refill can burn their excess focus on movement. This can be exploited further by meditating scholars, especially those with large focus pools. For a cost much lower than a teleport scroll, your scholar can essentially meditate and travel from town to town as needed. The developers limited each character to one meditate per turn per town for a reason, so make the most of it whenever you can.
The Power of Shock
언급했듯이, bards haven’t been added yet, so the ability to distract and cancel an enemy’s roll is not available. Shock becomes the primary method to ensure the cancellation of an enemy’s roll, as daze is a close substitute but less reliable than shock. Shock prevents susceptible monsters from executing perfect attacks and can effectively disable many encountered enemies. Shock, along with wet (which makes shock-immune enemies vulnerable to shock), are likely the most potent status effects in the current game. If distract were available, this gap might be less pronounced, but until bards are introduced, shock stands out as one of the most powerful tools for players. 본질적으로, make the most of shock whenever possible. If you can’t execute an alpha strike against the enemy, shock is usually the next best option, unless you have a dependable source of stun. 하지만, keep in mind that most enemies you’d want to stun are immune to it.
Any character can fill this role, but those with high speed and the ability to roll shock in the first turn of a fight are usually the best choices. This ensures a greater likelihood of benefiting from shock right from the start.
