I am very happy to announce update version 2.5 will be going live very soon and this is an update that i have personally wanted to implement into Slot Shots Pinball for over a year and thanks to all of your support I was finally able to make it happen. For those that haven’t read or followed along with a few of the minor tidbits of information that I have discussed in this forum we are currently working on a new title that is using a lot of new systems (including the newest version of the Unity engine)— and I was able to implement a couple of these new systems into Slot Shots Pinball Ultimate Edition. Here is a run down of what has been added and changed in this current update:
- Graphic Quality Settings – We changed the path from « avant » to deferred and enabled HDR for all tables. ALL tables now take full advantage of this!
- Beautify 3 Enhanced Graphics – This is a system that enhanced the graphical qualities of the tables in a lot of different ways. Adjustments were made to the sharpness, contraste, brightness, and lighting to all of the tables. They just look better and more crisp. The previous version had a more washed over foggy « haze » of greyish orange, c'était’t THAT noticeable but it was there and that has been completely removed with this!
- Bloom effects were added to most of the tables. Neon Nights 2 took the most advantage of this new feature, and you can really see the « glow » on some of the darker tables. Two tables that weren’t able to take full advantage of the bloom effects were Ocean Breeze and Dracula’s Pawn, simply because the frame rate of these two tables were already running a bit lower than the rest of the bunch and adding a bloom effect dropped the frame rate to around 60-70 FPS and I personally wasn’t happy with that, as the majority of the tables run well past 90-100.
- Screen Space Ray Traced Reflections – This is another awesome new system that adds reflections to a lot of different parts of the table, with some of the tables taking more advantage of this than others. Certain tables have more reflective side boards and more metallic like playfields than others, which allows the ball and light reflections to be easier seen. This really brought a more realistic feel to most of the tables. A good first example would be Neon Nights 2 which had a lot of reflective material already in the scene. One table that virtually took no advantage of this system is Retro Vixel Land, which had basically little to no reflective materials and mostly cartoon stylized objects which give basically no reflection.
- Ball Material Adjusted – This is one that I have tinkered with off and on for two years, the pinball material itself has gone through at least fifteen changes since our first title, but now that we were able to adjust the graphic settings and system we were able to take full advantage of a new type of ball material which is better in a number of ways. Pour commencer, you can clearly see the ball rotating especially when it is moving slow, and this is thanks to the « battle scratches » a worn down ball would have. Accordé, it doesnt look as new and shiny as a fresh pinball, but a brand new pinball has no texture and it was impossible to tell when it was rotating. Some comments even stated the ball didn’t rotate even though it was rotating the entire time because the material had no « marques » or scratches– it was impossible to see the rotation. You can also more clearly see light reflection on the ball itself as it is passing certain bulbs. One minor note to all of this is not all thirteen tables got a new ball– there were three tables that had lighting settings that made the ball a bit hard to see. The tables that don’t take full advantage of the new ball are Outergalactic Aliens, Neon Nights Original, and Ocean Breeze.
- Several Material Changes – Certain textures and materials were changed on most of the tables, for example the spinning circles on Ocean Breeze have both been updated with newer textures to go with the new graphic system. Le kraken’s Cove had the most changes as this table had a lot of metallic/reflective materials that had to be toned down a bit to take advantage of the new graphical system (it looked like a lit up christmas tree with all of the sparkles from the bloom effect before the changes).
- Fixed an issue on Mystic Ballistic in the top right of the upper playfield in which the ball could become stuck. The right side gate was pushed back, a new blocker was added in front of it just behind the slingshot, the invisible ceiling was raised slightly for the cup behind the gate, and the gate itself was enlarged slightly.
- Removed two of the grass/plant/bush found on the upper deck above the main playfield on Bass Hunter as the material was causing a clipping issue with the new system.
- Fixed an issue with the left flipper on Outergalactic Aliens found on the top left playfield.
