Fatalis is one of the largest monsters that you will be fighting as you progress in Chasseur de monstres: Monde. Unlike any other encounter, Fatalis’ attacks are deadly, which is why you should be aware of its attack patterns. To help you survive this monster, que tu’re hunting it alone or with friends, this guide will give you some of the most useful Fatalis survival tips.
Fatalis Survival Guide and Tips
Quelques conseils généraux:
Stay close to Fatalis
- To stay safe from Fatalis’ powerful attacks like the Cone or the Triple Charged Fireball in Phase 3, il’s best to stay close to it. If Fatalis moves away, put away your weapon and follow. If you need to go far, stay near a broken pillar or the platform to avoid the Cone, or be ready to perform a superman dive.
Enfiler’t overcommit
- Avoid attempting powerful moves like the True Charged Slash (TCS) quand il y a’s no opportune moment. Par exemple, if Fatalis is standing on two legs, trying a TCS on its chest might lead to disaster if it initiates the Flame Shower while you’re in the TCS animation, which cannot be canceled.
You have i-frames when blown away by an attack
- When thrown back by an attack, your character becomes invincible throughout the recovery animation. This is especially helpful for attacks that make you land on the back or belly. Stay still and observe Fatalis’ actions before standing up again. Attacks that trigger this include Fireballs, Charged Fireball, Fire Sweep, et 360 Fire Sweep.
Keep Fatalis primed with 1 Dragon Pod
- Il’s situational, as equipping Dragon Pods with the Great Sword may not always be ideal. The Slinger Burst is valuable for various openings, and accidentally flinching Fatalis with your slinger burst is something you’d want to avoid.
Below are some survival tips for specific attacks. You can also find them covered in the video right here.
Bodyslam
A move called Bodyslam can be really dangerous for GS (Grande épée). But if you time your dodge well, like I do with Evade Window lv2 in the GIF, you can avoid getting hit. The arms don’t seem to be part of the danger zone, only the paws and the rest of the torso.
If you do end up getting hit, and you have Dragon Pods, you can shoot them at Fatalis (the monster) pendant qu'il’S abattu. Il’s essential to have primed Fatalis with a Dragon Pod beforehand, so you only need to shoot one to flinch him. Rappelez-vous juste, the Dragon Pods will only work after Fatalis recovers from the Bodyslam animation.
Si tu’re charging up an attack and know you’ll get hit, you can tackle the Bodyslam and take only half as much damage, giving you a better chance to survive. Au cas où tu ne le ferais pas’t have Dragon Pods while knocked down, the best thing to do is quickly roll your left joystick in circles (hold A and spam D for keyboard) to recover quicker. If Fatalis doesn’t choose to charge at you, il’s possible to survive.
Charged Fireball
The Charged Fireball is the riskiest move. You might get caught off guard by this after a TCS (True Charged Slash) in some of the openings shown in the guide. Dans ces cas, try to roll to Fatalis’s side and time the tackle with the explosion. Immediately do a Side Blow and try to roll again to evade the aerial charge follow-up from Fatalis. Doing an early tackle on the explosion gives you more time for the second roll.
Fire Puddle
Fatalis’s Fire Puddle attack is dangerous because it forces you out of position. Fatalis often follows it up with the Cone or Side Flame later in Phase 3. If you get hit by the puddle into the Side Flame’s starting side, there should be enough i-frames (invincibility frames) from being blown away to avoid getting hit (see GIF below). If you end up on the other side, quickly sheath your weapon and superman dive for safety.
Cone
Parfois, you might get blown away by an attack, and Fatalis decides to hit you with the Cone move. If you get hit by a fireball and don’t touch any button, toi’ll lie on the ground for a while. This provides i-frames during the whole animation. When you recover, block the cone, and you should survive.
Flame Shower
Flame Showers are dangerous if you attack Fatalis without knowing there’s an opening for it. To avoid carting (défaut) due to this, only perform the TCS (True Charged Slash) when you know there’s time for it. If Fatalis decides to do the Flame Shower while you are charging, cancel it with a tackle and Side Blow while rolling out of the way.
De la même manière, if you find yourself down there after a TCS, perform the roll, tackle, Side Blow combo to get out of the danger zone.
Grande épée has a short sheath animation, so sometimes it’s better to just sheath and superman dive for safety. The GIF below uses Quick Sheath lv3.
