I have compiled a few tips based on my one-hour gameplay experience, although it may not cover everything since I haven’t explored all the game’s features yet. Please note that these tips are intended for players who are either struggling with or seeking a better understanding of certain aspects of the game. If you enjoy the challenge of figuring things out on your own, you may prefer to avoid reading further.
Tips for Effective Ghost Hunting
- Survival is key: To retain your points, you must escape by using the car on the road where you initially arrived. You can do this at any point during your investigation.
- Using the camera in dark areas: When taking photos in low light conditions, remember to press ‘F’ to activate the flash while aiming the camera (the controller key may vary). Capturing images of body bags, blood stains, spirits/demons, etc., will earn you experience points. Utilize these points to purchase/unlock new equipment before each game, which you can carry over to future sessions.
- Managing your equipment: Keep in mind that you have a maximum carrying capacity of 100 space points. Choose your equipment wisely, as neglecting to equip anything other than the default items will leave you with no additional tools. Each item has different space values, and some are free to use from the start. Make sure to equip these items if available, comme ils ont gagné’t consume any space points. Par exemple, the pack of batteries can be used for the camera and voice recorder. toutefois, si tu ne le fais pas’t equip them, you can still find batteries in the game. Notamment, there are no arrows to switch between items within each category when selecting equipment; click to the left or right of the item to switch.
- Spirit Board sessions and points: To earn points during Spirit Board sessions, remember to equip the tripod before starting the game. It will become available once you set up the Spirit Board at the main campfire.
- Gathering resources: Collect wood branches and sheet metal scattered around the map. These resources can be used to craft traps and upgrade your equipment at the workbench in the cellar/basement of the main house. You will need a crowbar to access the cellar. En outre, là’s a small house with a locked front door to the far left of the map, near the Spirit Board campfire. You can open it using a lockpick.
- Seeking refuge in the cellar: When being chased, entering the cellar will temporarily halt the pursuit from entities.
- Understanding entity behavior: Each encountered entity has distinct behavior patterns. Finding a page with their image and looking behind it will provide valuable information about their speed, faiblesses, and how to effectively deal with them.
- Play area limitations: There are boundaries to the playable forest area. If you venture too far, you will receive a prompt indicating that you are leaving the play area. Continuing to leave will result in death. The exact cause of death is unknown, perhaps it’s from « ghost farts » (just a playful speculation).
- Scavenging for supplies: Explore various locations such as houses, shacks, and abandoned campfires. These places may contain backpacks with supplies, piles, or sheet metal that you can pick up. Wood can also be found scattered around the forest. Keep in mind that certain items are randomly placed, so each game may have different locations for batteries, etc..
- Passage of time: You start the game at night, and time progresses as you survive. The top left corner of your screen displays the time. Once you notice it’s becoming daylight, you will receive a prompt saying something like, « je’ve had enough of this, time to get back to my car. » Entities may not appear around this time, but I cannot confirm this as I haven’t verified it myself.
