A quick guide to Asset Ripping Signalis.
Asset Ripping
The first thing you are going to have to do is install asset ripper software. For this video, I will be using this asset ripper software from Git Hub. It was suggested to me by Kerc and it works quite well, and ill have the link to it attached below.
From here we need to actually pull out these files, to do so you are going to want to find the game files of Signals on your PC, On steam, this can be quickly done by clicking the local files button.
Then open the asset ripper program and drag the Signalis_Data folder into it.
This will begin an extraction that will take quite a bit. At this point take a break and do something else as it extracts the game files.
After waiting a bit return to your PC and you will see the extraction is finished, from here you are going to want to export these extracted files into a brand folder in a location of your choosing, an act that will again take a decent bit of time, if your someone who wants to just explore the png asset files or do something else with the files now that you have them then that’s the end of the guide, sin embargo, if you want to import these newly acquired files to Unity well that’s the next step.
Importing to Unity
To do this you are first going to want to instal Unity Hub, this is the central launch device for Unity and is available free on their website. This install will take a bit but once it’s done your going to need to install yet another software from within this.
Seeing as Signalis was not made in the newest version of unity we must instead install the version of unity that it was made in.
I’ll have links to all these installs below, but specifically, you are going to want the 3.36 Version from 2020.
Once this version is installed we are practically done, click the open drop down and click add a project from disk, then open the folder of the exported files, and find an inner folder called Exported Project. This is what we are looking for, select this folder as the project and after some importing you will be able to open Signalis in Unity.
This will let you explore it’s various assets and locations to your heart’s content and in a way unavailable in-game. However it is important to remember that much like Debug Information, no info gathered this way can be used in theory or theorizing.
