This guide will assist you in obtaining the entire Ashen Dragon set in Sea of Thieves and will explain what item each tome unlocks.
To unlock Ashen Dragon items and clothing, you must sell ashen tomes, which can be found in ashen chests. Hay 20 ashen tomes in total, divided into four groups. When you sell each tome for the first time to either Larinna (outside the tavern) or the servant of the flame (on reaper’s hideout), you will unlock a new item and receive a commendation.
The Fastest Method
The simplest way is to purchase ashen key and chest voyages from Larinna (outside the tavern), but they are quite expensive; ashen chest voyages cost 50 doubloons and ashen key voyages cost 99 doubloons.
Don’t worry if you can’t afford the voyages; there are other ways to obtain ashen chests and keys.
The Hard Method
You can obtain ashen chests and keys by defeating Ashen Guardians and Key masters. Ashen Guardians drop a note that leads to an ashen chest, while Ashen Key masters drop an ashen key with no additional work.
Keep in mind that they have a very low chance of spawning, but you will find them during the final waves of a skull fort.
You will also receive an ashen chest from the vault of a skeleton fort, and if you defeat a skeleton fleet, you will receive three ashen chests.
If you take out a Kraken, a megalodon, or an emergent skeleton ship, you may also receive an ashen chest drop.
I almost forgot that you can also fish for an ashen key, but the chances are slim, so I wouldn’t bother.
Ashen Tomes
So those are the only ways to obtain the ashen tomes and unlock the Ashen dragon set. Be aware that you will receive many duplicates, so don’t give up and keep opening those chests.
