We’ve got a new update releasing today for Noxia Somnia, the biggest one being adding a new language: Französisch!
📜 Text
- The game’s text system has been completely reworked from the ground up. Improved performance, support for multiple languages, und mehr.
- New Language: Französisch! The language menu can be opened on the title screen, and players can now pick between English and French. Additional languages will be added in future updates.
- When playing with French language, guillemets should be used consistently instead of quotation marks.
- A large amount of dialogue has been rewritten so that it flows more naturally, and has a bit more personality. Robotic sounding lines have been removed or reworked. These rewrites affect the entire game.
- Some tutorials and button text have been simplified so that they are more understandable at a glance.
- All instances of text overlapping other menu icons have been resolved.
🐛 Resolved Bugs
- Major Bugfix; Certain text elements no longer duplicate when you die or reload the game.
- All instances of the „There is an item ahead!“ debug text loading for tutorials have been fixed.
- The player can no longer turn the flashlight on and off when in the skill tree menu, this should prevent any instances of controls locking up due to bugged animation states.
- Any instances where the skill tree menu broke and could not be used should be fixed now.
- The save file delete menu no longer uses the UI from the pre-alpha builds of Noxia. (How did this even happen?)
- Rare item popup missing text bug fixed.
📢 Audio & Musik
- When the game is paused, the player’s heartbeat sound is reduced in volume. This should make it less annoying when inputting safe codes, Lektüre, or browsing your inventory.
- Rain on roof ambience in the hub world now scale based on your „Effekte“ volume setting instead of blasting at max volume when the game is muted.
- Final boss ambience and other sound effects now scale based on sound effect volume setting.
- The song „Chez Pierre“ now scales based on music volume.
⚙️ Optimierung
- Heartbeat monitor code optimized. It probably doesn’t need to update every single frame, Rechts?
- Event Checks & Room Detection no longer run on fixed time for slightly improved performance.
🎨 Graphical Adjustments & Korrekturen
- A variety of decorations in Act 1 Und 2 were improved.
- Appearance of the Culinary Room in Act 1 was changed.
- Some minor adjustments were made to the final boss’s visuals. This includes overhauled lighting, new warning indicators for their slam attack, and indicators for when the shield around their heart is vulnerable.
⚖️ Balance Adjustments
- The health of the final boss was reduced by roughly 40% on all modes to reduce the difficulty of the battle.
- The final boss’s claw slam attack now deals a set amount of damage rather than each hand doing a specific amount of damage.
- The final boss no longer summons Shades of Life or Bullies.
🎮 Kontrollen
- Custom keybinds have been replaced with a more complex and easy to use preset system. This change was made in the minor patch 1.0.2, and has been improved for 1.1’s release.
- Applying control presets is now done automatically when exiting the menu instead of having to manually select „anwenden“ after picking your preset.
- If an input device disconnects during gameplay, the game will now automatically pause.
💻 Benutzeroberfläche
- The settings menu has been redesigned. It now looks a lot better, and text within the menu has been simplified so it is easier to understand.
- The game mode select screen was simplified a bit.
- The control menu was simplified a bit as well.
- An 16:10 / Steam Deck handheld mode, tutorial prompts on the skill tree are no longer offscreen.
- Text on the skill tree is no longer cut off by the (unsichtbar) preview video for skills.
- The phone pause screen now scales correctly on 16:10 Und 21:9 ultrawide resolutions.
- Collectable display UI now starts at it’s default position when opening a menu instead of being scrolled down slightly.
💀 Bekannte Probleme
- There is a known bug with input devices where you cannot connect one mid-game. If you are having trouble connecting a controller, try connecting it prior to launching the game and making sure it does not disconnect during loading screens. This will be a priority fix for next update.
- During Pierre’s introduction scene, one of his dialogue boxes incorrectly is displayed over Tristan.
- There may be issues with certain lines of text in this update due to the extensive changes made to the text system, please let us know if you find any.
