An Addendum to the Grandia II Save Editing Guide.

Erste Schritte
Erste, you’ll want to create a save file if you haven’t already. When that is done go into the save directory(Grandia II Anniversary Edition\data\saves) and look for a file along the lines of GRANDIA2_[###].VMS. Nächste, open your hex editor of choice, and load the file into it.
You’ll want the offset, highlighted above. These dictate what location you will spawn in.
So how do we get the values? Well the developers left us a very helpful tool in the form of „strings.txt“, which seem to be notes from the Dreamcast game in 4 verschiedene Sprachen(hence the Japanese names for blanked out locations).
JEDOCH. Likely because it was written with the Dreamcast in mind, the values in that file are slightly different to what you will input into the save file, Zum Beispiel, the first area is written as „mapid_1000=SILESIAN CONTINENT“ but you would input 0010. Naturally for convenience sake, this guide will format it accordingly.

Anmerkungen
- Bedauerlicherweise, these do not control the coordinates used, making it not as useful as it could be, depending on the map you could just end up falling through the void, indefinitely.
- Music ID also oddly seems to be stored in a different place in the save file, as is the map will just reuse the same song playing in the area you originally saved at.
- Maps with —- were either used for cutscenes or are unused/possibly removed from the game. I’ve only gotten F0D8 to work, most just seem to crash more often than not when loaded, or spawn you into a void, but that may just be a coordinate issue.
- Everything after NEW VALMAR seems to be for certain in-game events? CARBO for example seems to be the map used during the opening cutscene of the game with Elena.
- Offset 00000EBA seems to control the environment, setting it to 01 oder 02 on any of the Carbo Village maps for example will change the map to Night and Evening respectively.
- Grandia II Anniversary Edition\data contains a file called console.txt that gets written to and rewritten every time you start a game, if you try to load any of the unused maps and the game crashes, post the results from it here. Zum Beispiel, an error I get while loading F0D8(though the map loads fine):
