You want to be like those who steal from outposts but don’t know how? Kein Problem! I’ll give you some expert and straightforward tips.
Outpost Changes
Winter Patch 2023
- The security at outposts got better at catching thieves. They might check for stolen items more often, especially if your reputation is low or if they’ve caught someone stealing. They can also notice if you’re carrying or wearing stolen stuff.
- Outposts now have bilge pumps and duct blocks to deal with floods caused by players. If there’s a flood, outposts can now drain properly.
This means that if your reputation is low with a faction, you’ll face more security checks.
Patch 1.0.13.1
- Attacking outpost NPCs won’t make your reputation drop by more than 20 points each time. This is to prevent huge reputation losses from trigger-happy griefers or accidents.
- Destroying outpost walls won’t decrease your reputation by more than 10 points each time.
- Outpost NPCs can’t be grabbed for more than 10 Sekunden. This prevents players from dragging them around the outpost.
This means that trolls will be limited in how much they can mess with things.
Outpost NPCs can’t be grabbed anymore to be lured into flooding and drowning them inside the docking room. This used to be an efficient and easy way to kill outpost NPCs.
Diving Suits Stealing
Each outpost, except for the colony, will have two diving suits available. If you want to take them before flooding the station:
Erste, check where the guards are before you start stealing the suits to avoid being caught. If a guard does catch you, quickly run to a long ladder and climb up a bit. After the guard „grabs you“ on the ladder, run back to the submarine and drop your suit. You can tell when the guard interacts with you if they start talking about security checks.
The reason for this strategy is that players and NPCs cannot interact while climbing on a ladder, whether it’s grabbing or healing. This makes it a useful tactic to avoid getting caught while attempting to steal the diving suits.
Flooding
Silly developers, making our jobs easier after the 2023 Winter patch
The developers have made our tasks easier with the 2023 Winter patch. Jetzt, anyone can interact with specific pumps located in places like Medical and Engineering, provided the host hasn’t set strict lobby settings.
Don’t forget about the two pumps near the Docking Hatch.
Make sure to change the following settings:
- Signal Check Component – Ausgabe: 100
- Water Detector – False Output: 1
The reason for this is that the Water Detector is in a dry room and starts activating the Signal Check. Since the output is set to 1, the Water Detector activates the Signal Check again, indicating that it’s in a wet room. If you want to drain water, stellen Sie es ein -100; if you want to pump it again, stellen Sie es ein 100.
Teil 2
If you plan to flood the outpost using the plasma cutter, consider flooding the station in this specific example.
The reason for this approach is that if every room has been flooded, the NPCs will flee upwards in the outpost. They will die from the pressure, slowly falling back to the floor of the outpost, avoiding falling down into the bottom of the ocean.
Stunning and Handcuffing
Dealing with a Hostile Outpost (No Flooding)
If you find yourself dealing with a hostile outpost but don’t want to flood it, here’s a strategy known as „Double Trouble.“
Grab two of each item and combine them. Equip two Stun Batons, then slap anyone you see twice and handcuff them. Outpost Guards carry their own handcuffs, saving you a lot of time. Two hits loaded with a Fulgurium battery cell should be enough. After stunning them, drag them into a small room to prevent them from running around inside the outpost. The talent Fireman’s Carry, especially useful for medics, allows dragging characters with no speed penalty.
But what if you’re facing a colony?
Exit the Docking space and wait for the guards to appear. Momentan, there’s a delay before the guards attack you. Use this moment to throw a stun grenade, ensuring it doesn’t hit you.
Stun grenades receive a 10% bonus stun radius for each increased crafting quality. Let’s do the math for you: 7.5 M (Normal) – 8.25 M – 9 M – 9.75 M. This increased stun radius can be advantageous in dealing with the guards effectively.
