How to get all the achievements and basic knowledge on how the characters work and the best way to play them… or not play them in someone’s case *cough* *cough* Weiss.
Achievements
Luckily most of the achievements you’ll unlock by just playing the story and using the characters. Some other achievements might require a bit more grinding but honestly, that’s only the case for two of them. Anyway here’s how to get all the spicy achievements to show off on your profile to god knows who.
Story Based and Basic Game Achievements.
Treasure Huntress
Open a chest.
Chests are found all around the map, some you can’t get to until you upgrade a character but this is one of the more easier achievements.
A Mission Begins
Complete objective at the summit.
Basically go to the summit and start then finish a mission. You’ll unlock this whilst just playing the story.
What are ya buying?
Purchase an item from a merchant.
I’m pretty sure this is a nod towards resident evil 4’s merchant which is pretty cool. Anyway just find the merchant and purchase any item from him. He can be found at any locations with the house icon.
Close Encounters
هزيمة 50 enemies using melee attacks.
I would recommend using Ruby for this as she has the longest reach of her weapon, which is useful especially in the early game where you have such little health.
It’s also a gun.
هزيمة 50 enemies using projectile attacks.
Easy way to do this is stand on the corner of an edge, crouch and just spam the grim that in the area lower than you . You have to be careful with your bullets though, because they cost aura and without any aura the next attack you get will take a heart away from you.
The Mysterious Orb
Complete Chapter 1
You’ll get this by just playing the story.
Aces and Wild Cards
Complete Chapter 2
Once again with all the story achievements you’ll get them by just playing the story.
Playing With Emotions
Complete Chapter 3
يلعب. ال. Story.
Hunt of the Huntresses
Complete Chapter 4
Story achievement goes brrrrrr.
The End of Arrrowfell
Complete Chapter 5
😀
Character Achievements
A normal girl, with normal knees!
Dash 50 times using Ruby’s Semblance.
Just use her ability 50 times in the game. You can just go into a corner and spam this to get the achievement easily, but honestly it’s not necessary as you’ll use the dash more than enough times before the end of the game.
Stand your ground and fight!
هزيمة 25 enemies with Yang’s Semblance
Kill enemies with Yang’s ability. This achievement unlocked for me after I accidentally used her ability to break a box. I’m not sure if that works throughout but if you keep dying as yang maybe just hit a few item boxes.
A shadow of myself!
هزيمة 25 enemies with Blake’s Semblance.
Blake is the only character who’s semblance works differently so how it works in the show, as her clones now deal damage. Just chuck down a clone next to you and spam your attack button. I find if you have the clone facing the opposite direction of you, then you can attack both left and right enemies.
More than a name!
هزيمة 25 enemies with Weiss’ Semblance.
If i’m honest Weiss is my least played character because of how weak she is. Just throw your glyph’s up and hope they hit the enemy.
Random / Grindy Achievements
Quite the collection
Hold 10 Skill Points at once.
This one could look intimidating at first but if you hunt for chests and buy all the skill points from the merchants then it’s possible to hold 10 skill points at once. Just be careful if you want to do this early game because you’ll be spending your coins on things you can’t use yet, other than hearts which are very important to not dying.
This will be the day…
Max out all the skills for team RWBY.
This is the only achievement in the game in which you really have to grind for. You have to unlock every chest in the game and purchase each skill point from the merchants. The strategy I used for choosing how to level up my characters was one at a time and who I used the most. لذا, I went: Ruby, Blake, Yang and then Weiss. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter what order you do, but I would strongly suggest to level up Ruby first as she’s the best out of the bunch.
However this is the only achievement in the game which I haven’t got. I’m missing 1 skill point and cannot find it for the love of god. I have an inkling that I missed a chest during a train fight segment because I was dashing past most of the levels in order not to die, and unfortunately this is the only level in the game in which you can’t repeat. Hopefully you have better luck than me!
That’s all the achievements in the game so far, hopefully they add a DLC to the game in which you can play team JNR + Oscar or even Ace Ops for more achievements (cause i think it would be pretty bad ass playing as the Ace Ops.)
Character Knowledge and Who to Play.
As you hopefully should know you get to play the game switching between team RWBY as you choose. Each of them come with different weapon reach, and semblances. Whilst this game includes puzzles in which you have to use a certain character to get somewhere, it is also a fighting game so it’s important to understand when best to use a character and who is best to select during boss fights and ambush rooms.
Ruby
Ruby’s Crescent Rose has the biggest reach out of all the characters and allows you to stay furthest away from the Grimm whilst spamming your attack button. This paired with her semblance, once fully upgraded, allows you to deal damage and dash past an attack or create distant between you and a strong enemy.
Her dash ability is very useful overall and especially in boss situations, where you need to dodge quickly for an incoming attack to be able to survive and deal damage whilst their now attacking a wall. It’s also increasingly helpful when you have to revisit certain old maps where you’ve already been to in order to get an item. It basically allows you to zoom past Grimm you don’t want to deal with and get your objective. للأسف, you have to wait until you meet up with
Harrietto unlock her “dodge mechanic” as your basic dash is good but doesn’t go very far leading to some awkward encounters of landing on a enemy and loosing health.
In my opinion you should play this whole game with Ruby as she’s the best equipped to fight basic Grimm and Bosses.
Blake
Blake is an odd one because I only used her when necessary for puzzles but, after reluctantly trying her out she actually isn’t half bad. She really shines in the rooms where you have to destroy the orb in the middle of the room whilst Grimm attacks you. Usually with Ruby I would get through the room fine but it would take me a bit longer than wanted to kill the orb as i’m mostly defending myself from Grimm. With Blake however, if you chuck your clone on the orb in the middle of the room and fight the Grimm, your basically doing two objectives at the same time. Sometimes you’ll have a chance where the Grimm take there time to spawn in so you can chuck your clone down with you and both spam the orb- I’ve had it multiple times where I’ve cleared the room in seconds due to this tactic.
With her clones it really comes down to how you use them in how well they work for you. For instance If you chuck a clone on front of you it will take the damage instead of you and it doesn’t get stunned. I’m not completely sure if this works until you’ve upgraded her ability but it comes in handy when you facing against a ranged enemy and can’t get in close without being stunned. Say if you have to jump up to fight two ranged enemies- both of them shooting at you from opposite directions, hop up and quickly place your clone on one side blocking the enemy’s fire from one side and take care of the other one.
Blake is my second most played character but I wouldn’t choose her over Ruby in a boss fight. purely because the bosses tend to move around alot and whilst chucking your clone down to fight whilst you scatter away like a cockroach is a good tactic, it only works until the boss moves again. Saying that however, I would choose her for ambush rooms due to her being able to deal alot of damage out very quickly, just watch your health whist doing so.
Weiss
I’m going to be honest I haven’t played Weiss for more than maybe a fight or two? Her kit just doesn’t seem well equipped for single enemy’s or bosses. Whilst if your surrounded her glyph’s can do some damage and get you out of a pickle if there placed right and hit their target. I don’t really have much to say about her but I don’t see a point of playing Weiss when Ruby or even Blake are the much better choices.
In the time I played Weiss for the achievement I did discover that if you watch the Grimm’s pathing closely and place your glyph in the right spot where the Grimm lands on it as it goes off, it will destroy them. She also does well against slow enemies, like the apathy because of its slow walking speed, it gives you plenty of time to chuck your glyph’s down and activate before it has a chance to get over to you. It is annoying in many cases how long is takes for her ability to actually fire- which I do understand because how would you step on them if they instantly fire. Maybe in the future there could be an option to select what glyph you want? that might be handy. Saying that though there have been a few times where I’ve used her glyph’s to stand on and get some height distance from the Grimm in order to switch to Ruby and dash to safety.
In my opinion use her for the puzzles but unless she gets a buff from the dev’s and becomes more useful I wouldn’t use her for battles.
Yang
Yang is an odd one, while I also haven’t played alot of her, when I did her semblance destroyed the early game Grimm. لكن, even though her ability does alot of damage her basic attack doesn’t work unless your right next to the enemy, which isn’t good when they only have to move slightly to hit you. She could be good against bosses if they stand still long enough letting you get your semblance in before they move. I wouldn’t pick her over Ruby or Blake, but even with her horrid weapon reach distance- I would play her over Weiss. (Sorry Weiss!)
Sorry if this guide was more of a “Literally play Ruby and you’ll be fine” but honestly that’s what this game is. I really don’t see any point selecting anyone else when you’ve got a essentially a dodge in a character. I’ll update this when I play more of the game but for now this is my thoughts on each characer!
