A guide on how to dodge Catherine Imamura’s attacks.
مقدمة
This is the main reason the other Sorrow guides have been on the backburner, the other reason is burnout began to rear its ugly head, though that didn’t stop me from making the Thanager, Scythe, and Minion guides. This guide we will be talking about the most recent Sorrow to be added to the game, Catherine Imamura.
Movement Tips
Since I will be using a few terms that may or may not be what the techniques are called by most others, I will be storing them here (and I will put this is any future Have a Nice Death guides that I make).
1. Upperslash
What I call the “upperslash” is one of the most important techniques when it comes to dodging. It is performed by doing an up attack, simple. The height can also be increased by jumping when performing the upperslash. This is useful when trying to get high into the air or to dodge attacks that cover the entire ground.
2. Air combos
They have as much utility as they have combat, as they can be used to extend airtime. These are useful for lingering attacks or when there isn’t enough safe space to land.
Attacks
Being a creature made mostly of water, Imamura can dematerialize and appear at different areas of the arena whenever she pleases, though she will become invulnerable during certain attacks, most notably her Tsunami Pillars attack.
(تنصل: the attack names are not official and are what I call them.)
- River Spray: Imamura will shoot a stream of water at the ground less than a foot in front of her that will split in three directions, each stream being roughly 42 degrees in relation to an adjacent stream. This attack can be dodged by jumping above the bottom stream of water and performing an air combo to stall. If Death isn’t far from Imamura, then an upperslash followed by an air combo should suffice. In phase 2 this attack has a secondary attack, in which a clone of Imamura is summoned on the opposite side of the arena from the Sorrow, and fires six streams of water originating above the clone. The phase 2 variant can be dodged by moving towards the gaps in the streams.
- Typhoon Walls: Imamura summons two massive columns of water at the end of the arenas, where she will be until the columns disperse. She will attack from within the columns via several different attacks such as the Water Claw attack, which will be discussed soon. This attack is more of a way to restrict how much of the arena Death can access, and damage can be avoided by moving towards the center of the arena.
- Water Claw: Imamura will swipe at Death with her claws two times. This can be dodged by moving away from Imamura and going airborn if against the edge of the arena. In phase 2 Imamura will summon a clone to perform the same attack after a one second delay after the initial attack.
- Aqua Dash: Imamura will dash towards Death, dissapearing, and reappearing while summoning two spheres of water that appear in the direction Death is in. This can be dodged by jumping over Imamura as she dashes and performing an air combo to stall as the spheres of water appear. In phase 2, this attack gets two variants. The first variant is when Imamura summons a clone when she emerges from her dash, summoning its own set of water spheres in the opposite direction of the Sorrow. The second variant is when Imamura summons four clones across the bottom of the arena, effectively making the entire area harmful. The phase 2 variants can be dodged in the same way the phase 1 variant is dodged.
- River Jets: Imamura summons three streams of water vertically or horizontally. This can be dodged by moving sideways for the vertical streams and going airborne for the horizontal streams. In phase 2, Imamura may summon a clone that creates a second stream alongside the third one, forming an X shape in the process, which can be dodged by moving either straight up or horizontally, or summon two horizontal streams that make dodging upwards challenging.
- Tsunami Pillars: Imamura leaps into the air before slamming into the ground near one of the edges of the arena and summons nine pillars of water, six moving in the opposite direction of where Imamura landed and three appear at Death’s location after the first six pillars. This can be dodged by dashing through the first six pillars after they spawn and moving horizonally to avoid the last three. In phase 2 Imamura summons eighteen pillars.
نصائح
- Imamura is the opposite of Major Pliskhan, in which her attacks are most effectively dodged by going airborne as opposed to the Modern Warfare Sorrow forcing Death to be on the ground.
- Most of Imamura’s attacks are ground based, which means staying in the air while casting spells such as Moskilltoe and Wishtorm is an effective strategy to defeat her.
The End
Being a more recent addition to the roster of Sorrows found within the company’s walls, and the final Sorrow in the game, Imamura is a force of nature, pun not intended, and can easily put Death into the ground and end the run, with a combination of damage, speed, and area denial that only the Major and Maxxx can rival.
