ElecHead – All Secrets and Easter Eggs Hints

This guide contains the locations and puzzle solutions for all of the hidden items and easter eggs in the game. For people who just want a nudge in the right direction, there are also hints for each location and solution. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to read the hints first and try to get the items yourself!

Secret Keys

هناك 20 secret keys hidden in the game. You can see which ones you have collected in a stage on the warp screen, but only if you have activated the warp for that stage.

Once you have all 20 keys, you can open a secret door. This leads to the alternate ending.

Location Hint: In the first half of stage 1.

حل: Stand on the appearing floor and jump through the left appearing wall.

Location Hint: Before the Throw Head Chip upgrade.

حل: Walk along the second floor and climb up to a room on the top-right.

Location Hint: Near the Throw Head Chip upgrade.

حل: Throw your head up through the right hole in the ceiling.

Location Hint: Near the end of stage 2.

حل: Jump through the fake wall on the left.

Location Hint: About halfway through stage 3.

Solution Hint: There’s another exit.

حل: Bring the platform up above the right exit and slip under it to fall through the hole on the right of the spikes.

Location Hint: About halfway through stage 3.

حل: Take the platform all the way back to the right by hopping on it.

Location Hint: Near the end of stage 3.

Solution Hint: There’s another exit.

حل: From the end of the zig-zag path, jump up and left to the next screen. Touch the secret key and drop down to your head to collect it.

Location Hint: Near the start of stage 4.

Solution Hint: Look closely.

حل: Drop your head and run through the narrow hidden passage on the left. Bring the secret key back to your head to collect it.

Location Hint: About halfway through stage 4.

Solution Hint: Like the previous secret key, but more clever.

حل: You can see the exit, but not the entrance. Drop your head at the bottom-right corner and jump up to the other hidden passage higher up. Touch the secret key and go through the bottom exit back to your head to collect it.

Location Hint: Near the end of stage 4.

Solution Hint: Look closely.

حل: Drop through the middle of the floor near the guns.

Location Hint: Near the start of stage 5.

Solution Hint: Rely on timing or luck.

حل: This is a slots mini-game. Activate the TVs, then touch one to start the slots. You can jump into each platform from below to stop them. Getting 3 secret keys on the TVs will cause the actual secret key to appear, بينما 3 dead robot heads will cause you to explode.

These 3 secret keys are part of the chip-collecting mini-game next to the stage 5 warp point. Collecting at least 10, 20, أو 30 chips will reward you with 1, 2, أو 3 secret keys. You can retry as many times as you want, and the patterns are randomized.

نصائح: You can throw your head from the center to grab chips on the side. Don’t rush to pick it back up, wait until the chips lead you to it. Some patterns are easier than others, so keep trying.

You can get an achievement by scoring 35 أو أكثر.

Location Hint: Near the start of stage 5.

Solution Hint: Use the open door.

حل: After opening the door, you can jump up to a room at the top-left. To reach the secret key, jump up and touch the wall to land on the appearing floor.

Location Hint: About halfway through stage 5.

Solution Hint: Find another way around.

حل: In the room to the right, throw your head to the center of the ceiling, then jump off the appearing floor to catch your head and land on the left platform. Go through the wall and climb up.

Location Hint: Find the “?” warp point.

موقع: Next to the “?” warp point, which is above the room after the stage 6 warp point.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to abuse a certain game mechanic.

حل: Jump into the pit to touch the key, then teleport to a warp point before hitting the spikes. The key will follow you.

Location Hint: Find the “?” warp point.

Solution Hint: Remember the last puzzle in stage 5.

حل: Throw your head left onto the “?” warp point and run 2 screens to the right. Climb the platforms and touch the key, then immediately teleport to the “?” warp point to rejoin with your head and collect the key.

It’s also possible to collect this by throwing your head into the ceiling above the upper appearing platform and repeatedly catching and re-throwing it in midair as you make your way up, but it requires very precise timing and movement.

Stage: Stage 6

Location Hint: If you found all the keys, you should’ve seen this.

Color Chips

هناك 10 color chips that unlock additional palettes (for a total of 13), which you can select from the pause menu. These are more well-hidden than the secret keys and are usually gated by an advanced puzzle. Collecting all of them does not unlock anything else, but they are listed on the stats screen after the ending.

Default orange/blue palette. This is always unlocked.

Green/purple palette. This is always unlocked.

Pink/blue palette. This is always unlocked.

Orange/purple palette.

Stage: Stage 5

Location Hint: Near the third secret key in stage 5.

موقع: Fall to the left after getting the third secret key, or reset the platform stairs below and hop across them to the left. Go through the wall.

Solution Hint: If a wall is fake, does it really exist?

حل: Throw your head into the fake wall so it disappears, breaking the connection with the lasers.

Yellow/red palette.

Stage: Stage 6

Location Hint: Keep climbing.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to open the door in a clever way.

حل: Throw your head onto the door and climb up to the key. When the door opens, your head will disconnect from the wall and you can get back down.

Yellow/gray palette.

Stage: Stage 5

Location Hint: On a climb to nowhere.

موقع: In the large empty room with small platforms that seem to lead up to nowhere, stand against the wall on the top-right to lower a moving platform from offscreen.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to use the checkpoint reset mechanic in a clever way.

حل: Move the platform to the side, throw your head up, and use the checkpoint reset to land it on the platform. Once the platform moves a few blocks over, reset again so your head ends up on the left side of the platform. Once it reaches the left wall, reset so it lands on the floor, then hurry over to it before time runs out.

Red/white palette. Two colors are white, so this hides some details.

Stage: Stage 3

Location Hint: Near some suspicious cans.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to avoid resetting the door.

حل: Get the checkpoint on the left of the room, then throw your head over the bottom checkpoint to avoid triggering it.

Monochrome white palette. Hides which walls are powered.

Stage: Stage 5

Location Hint: Towards the end of the stage, after learning about the checkpoint reset mechanic.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to use the appearing wall in a clever way.

حل: Stand against the appearing wall and jump just high enough to land on top of it before it disappears, then jump up and touch one of the walls.

Green palette. Based on the Game Boy LCD screen.

Stage: Stage 5

Location Hint: Towards the end of the stage, after learning about the checkpoint reset mechanic.

موقع: At the bottom of the shaft under a platform that needs to be reset.

Solution Hint: Hidden passages can be tricky.

حل: Drop your head and jump through the narrow hidden passage on the left.

Cyan/magenta palette. Based on CGA palette 1 used on early PCs.

Stage: Stage 1, requires the Throw Head Chip upgrade found in stage 2.

Location Hint: Near the second and third secret keys in stage 1.

موقع: By the room with the long appearing floor and wall.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to use a technique that the game teaches you much later.

حل: In the room to the right, throw your head and jump back to the edge of the other room to land on the appearing wall as it starts to appear, then climb up to reach the room at the top-right. You can fall to the screen below afterwards to retrieve your head.

You also need to take the late-game backtracking paths to get back here with the upgrade (unless you left a checkpoint here). To avoid having to do the late-game puzzles twice, you can (very carefully) skip the 2 checkpoints after the one you fall onto.

Brownish-green palette. Hides which walls are powered.

Stage: Stage 3

Location Hint: Near some suspicious cans.

موقع: On the third screen with 2 stacks of 3 cans, drop through the floor between them.

Solution Hint: Stop and think for a minute and you may discover the answer.

حل: Call the moving platform over, walk onto it, and do nothing for 60 ثواني. Elechead will fall asleep and stop producing electricity, causing the platform to move back to the right. To get off the platform, press the jump button first to avoid activating it again.

It’s also possible to cross this room by throwing and catching your head repeatedly, but the movement is very tricky.

Green/red/yellow palette. Based on CGA palette 0 used on early PCs.

Stage: Stage 6

Location Hint: Near an annoying platform.

موقع: In the room with the very fast platform that drops to the floor, go through the right wall.

Solution Hint: You’ll need a clever trick and precise timing.

حل: Throw your head over the gap, then walk under it and press down just as it lands on you to drop through the platform without powering it. The timing needs to be just right for this to work.

Red/gray palette.

Stage: Stage 1

Location Hint: Near the start.

Solution Hint: You’ll need to take advantage of something that seems out of your control.

حل: When you start the game for the first time (or after watching the normal ending), Elechead spawns above the title and falls into the starting room. If you’re holding right, he will instead land on the title, allowing you to reach the room with the chip.

Secret Upgrade

There is a secret area with a secret second upgrade and a few puzzles that require it. This upgrade is NOT required for anything outside of this area.

Stage: Stage 6

Location Hint: Near the stage 6 warp.

Solution Hint: Find a way out.

حل: Walk into the bottom-right corner to fall out of the map. Hold left and you will eventually land on top of the secret area. Enter through the large opening in the ceiling, then head left to find the secret upgrade.

وصف: This is the Rocket Head Chip. After throwing your head, press the button again to make it start flying. You can stop and start it again by continuing to press the button. This upgrade can be used to bypass many puzzles in the main game and get a higher score in the mini-game.

There is another minor easter egg in this area, which you can see by holding left after exiting the last room. To get back to the rest of the game, just teleport to a warp point.

Poop Hall

There is a hidden series of rooms with TVs that just show the poop icon, leading to what looks like an upgrade room full of dead robots, which just has a poop TV where the upgrade chip should be.. The pause menu is disabled in this area and just shows the poop icon, and the screen transition after dying is shaped like poop.

Stage: Stage 4

Location Hint: Near the start of stage 4.

Solution Hint: If you think about this too much, you’ll end up like the other robots.
