This page covers a comprehensive guide on how to easily expand your territories in City of Gangsters.
Expanding Territory
In each corner, it can grow up to four times. This depends on how many nearby corners there are. The growth pattern is always the same: north, east, south, west. If a corner can’t grow in all four directions, it still follows the same pattern, starting from the first available direction.
If a corner is on the map’s edge, it’s considered unavailable, so you won’t have to pay for a non-expandable corner. It also skips adjacent corners that belong to a different group or a troublemaker. In the Fronts window, it may show as “available to expand into,” but you can’t actually expand into it because someone else already occupies it.
Expanding comes with a cost, usually ranging from $6 ل $15. The actual amount depends on the characteristics of both your crew member and the business owner, لكن $10 is the typical expense. This money is subtracted from the monthly earnings collected from the front.
If you expand to a corner without any businesses, it means you’ll spend money on that corner without getting anything in return. If your corner only has the front, expanding means you have to pay the front, at least until you add a corner with more businesses to extort. This ensures that the front doesn’t end up losing money.
Fronts that consistently lose money and don’t get any attention for two months might feel neglected and shut down. إذا حدث هذا, you could lose not just the front but also any nearby corners connected to it.
Expanding your territory takes some time, usually between 3 ل 6 turns for each expansion. While a front is busy expanding, you can’t start new fronts. To avoid frustration, it’s smart to spend a few turns opening new fronts first and then trigger all of them to expand at once.
You can open as many fronts simultaneously as you want, without any specific limit. The only constraints are your available funds, Favors, relationship levels, traits of business owners, and the presence of businesses on the corners you desire. Other than these factors, you have the freedom to open as many fronts as you can manage.
Pay attention to the details: the game notes that you can’t open a new front while another is in the expansion process. To navigate this, refrain from instructing a new front to expand right after opening it. بدلاً من, open all the fronts you desire, then move on to the next step. Once they are all opened, initiate their expansion collectively. After their first expansions, which may not complete simultaneously, you can either open new fronts or wait until all are fully expanded before proceeding.
Expanding Territory for Free
Here’s a clever trick to expand your territory without spending any money, especially handy when you’re low on funds or need to secure awkward locations. If a business in your territory is already paying protection money, you can transform it into a front using only a Favor.
لكن, there are some trade-offs. The corner can only expand three times instead of four, and it removes one business that was previously paying protection money to the “parent” أمام. Yet, you’ve effectively created a new front for $0. Keep in mind that Religious or Upright individuals will still decline, and so will Nervous folks, even though they would gladly open a front for you in neutral territory if given some extra cash.
If one of these “converted” fronts shuts down, perhaps due to interference from a rival, it reverts to its original status as an extorted business for the “parent” أمام. In such a case, you should be able to persuade them to become a front again if you wish.
A Front COULD Just be for Christmas
To include a challenging corner in your territory, you can open fronts on a “temporary” basis. Even after the expansion is complete, you’ll need to keep making payments every month for at least a few months.
After a sufficient amount of time has passed, you can close the front, but the territory should remain under your control. It’s crucial to let it run for a few months to avoid losing the territory when you shut down the front. This is because your relationship with that former front will take a hit. If the hit is too severe, you might lose the territory. لكن, if you maintain a high relationship level, the impact will be less severe, and the relationship should still be positive.
Shuffling Fronts Around
If you have multiple fronts with overlapping territories, it might be a good idea to consider closing down some of them. This allows you to reorganize which front businesses are paying their protection money, making your operations more efficient.
من خلال القيام بذلك, you’ll have fewer fronts to visit every month, and the remaining ones will generate more income as more businesses contribute to them. Let’s look at an example:
Yellow represents fronts.
Cyan shows extorted businesses and indicates which front they’re paying.
أ is the original front.
ب, initially an extorted business under A, was turned into a front. Businesses marked (ب) were paying it protection money. As B became less relevant after acquiring ج, the desired corner, which could only expand south, it was closed down. B reverted back to paying A protection money. The businesses that were paying B for protection money were now persuaded to pay C instead.
This strategic move streamlines your operations, reducing the number of fronts and concentrating the protection money from businesses under fewer fronts, ultimately boosting your overall earnings.
